how to get picture messaging to work

hello, my E398 was bought in Australia when it first came out, and since i've moved to NZ and now to the UK, i'm unable to send or receive pictures. I've tried to contact Vodafone, who i've got my sim card with, but they tell me it's too old for them to have any info to update it with. Does anyone know how i can get the settings correct to get it to work properly please? It's not locked at all and everything else seems to work fine.
