Rockmantic?
That MP had a really bad signal,i have tried that MP.
Try to flash with new MP.
If you still get bad signal, disassemble your phone.
Sow the face powder to the PA n antena, wait about 10 minutes.
Then use toothbrush to clean face powder.
And finally, use hair dryer to heat.
And assemble your phone.
I do this when my phone get bad signal.
wanna try?

please don't, very high risk.
you can crash any capasitor, resistor, and IC.
flash with MP first. maybe you can try manak's suggestion

try backuping & Uploading signal parameter...

In the few cases we had experienced mgkn Low signal or no signal after mgkn we ples a MP, but there is no previous problems.
This can occur due to interference on the Calibration H / W (PA IC). so we have good backup calibration parameters H / W when we experience our sewaktu2 incident kek above.

Next I include step image for backuping Uploading and tuning parameters.

for backuping.
1. RadioComm open and make sure that HP already connect with radiocomm
 (google it)
2. In the Features section, open the tab NV / seem, and you will see new windows.
3. In the Product section, select the type of weight that is GSM_P2K
4. put read,    "The process backuping akan running (progress bar), in some parameter error will occur but this is normal, just click OK to complete".
5.Save parameters we are successful in Backup format NVM in accordance with the type of HP
Done, close the window NV / seem to Normal and press the button to restart Hp back to Normal Mode

for uploading

Tuning parameters for Uploading (when the problem of signal) in the NV / seem, click the Open button

Select File tuning (extension NVM) in accordance with the type of HP
in attack

Then click the Write button, wait for finished and restart HP

If problems occur because of signal problems corupt tuning parameters over the way you will complete the problems.

tutor is recapitulated from GEANICEV from motouser ...

hopefully helpful

i think this problem really simple, if your e1/e398 get weak signal , u can try what i did. i'm sorry i cant provide a screenshot. the point is your internal phone antena n the yellow tiny metal have bad connection with the inside plastic cover [the plastic cover have metal layer that used to strengthen signal receive]. so, use a wired/cable, to your antena and stick the wired to "metalic layer". the point is your INTERNAL ANTENA MUST CONNECTED WITH METALLIC LAYER. try it..., works for me.. dont have to doing a complicated method. PM me if u dont understand, i'm imdonesian.. if u indonesian too i think it easier to explain.. I'm sorry for my bad englizzzzzz :d
