Hey guys I recently got hold of circuit diagrams and instruction manual for E398 and I'm wondering if anyone here can use that to modify the charging/data port to a mini-USB type. I also have the diagram for V3x which of course has the mini-USB port. Anyone care to have a look and feedback if this is workable?

I think it workable, that will make better connection. But I dont want to take the risk. The soldering point is too small for me...

I've got contacts with a fabrication company and they make motherboards on a contract basis. I should be able to find someone there to help. Would you guys be able to provide some pictures at least. It'll be really helpful.

Thank you Niksy for the link. I really do appreciate it.
@Argetlam I'm not sure if you guys face it but I'm living in a tropical climate and the connector becomes oxidised very fast. I have to clean it once a week now to get the charger working without a problem.
The other thing which i'm interested in is to use the USB as the data cable as well.

I think its easier to make a port cover than to change it .

i prefer to modify the P2K data cable, so i can use it as a charger and data cable, so i can flash/use it as modem, without have to worry my battery condition, weather full or not. cause for me, modifying p2k as mini usb, for me it's too risky and lil bit messy.
but it's just personal considerations, it's all up to you.
