Upgrade without USB

I have Motorola E398 and a 1GB MicroSD card. Is there a way to add or upgrade any software to the phone without using a USB cable? I can easily transfer files from my computer to the MicroSD, using the SD adapter. But when I put the card back into the phone, nothing would happen. I can play mp3s and see pictures as usual. The main question is can I upgrade or install just by transfering files directly to the MicroSD.

u will not satisfied for ur phone.. bcoz the best upgrade must be connected usb cable.. such as

Monsterpack(updated custom firmware)
Skin(Custom Skin)
iTunes(Custom iTUnes)

all of this, need usb cable to upgrade.. without usb ur phone is not fun..
go check it out

Yeah.U must use data cable to flash ur phone.No phone in this world could be flashed by using memory card.BTW,I love that avatar,Raunamaxtor.Viva Motolovers.
