Flashing and applying elf.

Hi guys im new here and i just found out this cool stuff, the problem is that im reading most of the tutorials but im really confused and i cant do it well.
First of all this is my phone info;

Motorola e398
Boot Loader
07.d0
SW Version:
R372_G_0E.20.90R

My problem is that how can i know if the firmware fits to my fone, and how can i flash it, coz all the MP i downloaded is in .sbf format isnt it should be .shx?
Lastly how can i put all those great elf work in my fone? Any step by step tutorials?
