How do I unlock my Motorola Slvr L7?

Hi, so this is the situation. I have a Palm Centro and the screen cracked a while back. My dad also has a Palm Centro, and he said I could have his phone, and that he would use our old Motorola Slvr L7 which was lying around the house. The only problem is, I'm not sure how to unlock it, and the carrier of that phone won't unlock it because it violates "the terms of service." Can anyone tell me how I would go about doing this? Thanks a million!!!!
