What's the difference between an overclocked e2 and a non overclocked e2? Does it really matter?

Yes, there is a big difference. I personally preffer the 416Mhz overclock, since I do not see so much profit further.
Briefly - the menu is times faster and the java apps are flying... Usually I am a regular user (not playing much java) and I did not noticed significantly shorter battery life

Overclock helps. A good APMD may improve your E2's performace without draining your battery too fast... i.e, Katze 2 comes with a good APMD. IMHO a good swap partition helps a lot, even more than overclocking.

I haven't overclocked my E2 cuz when I tried to i got an APMD manually oc to 416Mhz and my phone had strange behavior. Doesn't wanted to turn off, you put out then in the battery and turned on by itself and sometimes restart without notice. I would really like to know if OC it's really safe as you tell. Greets from Colombia!

OMG!!! PAISANO!!!! YO SOY DE NEIVA! (I'm colombian too) that's weird. Have you tried to OC your ROKR using the OC mpkg? or by changing the startup files?

PAISANA...... at least you talk spanish, my english suxx... I made Oveclocking putting a APMD file in /ezxlocal/startup_test.txt in TheOne Beta2. Now I've Katze2 and it's working fine... I really got scared when it starts working like that...

It really depends what exactly the overclocking application is testing It's like in the PC benchmark apps - there are cpu tests (many different), memory tests, combined tests, etc

did you set the application permissions to root? if you didn't, the application won't be able to stop the apmd service
