How about doing development in PHP? Here I present a PHP Loader to load PHP files through file manager and a simple-few-click installation for PHP on E2.

Download php-loader.tar.gz and extract to your E2 SD card.

Download mirror: http://www.e2mod.com/content/view/274/28/

Open phone's file manager and navigate to where you extract the files. Click on install.lin. Now, you will be prompted to install on SD or phone. (I recommend to use SD because I havent tested the phone yet) Wait until finish and reboot.

Now, the php files is recognized.

And here how it looks while clicked. See explanation for each option on help.

Hope its being useful!

Hmm...just take it as an alternative programming language, or maybe a good replacement for Bash... Wink For your question, php can change system file that placed on r/w partition and of course not on the read only one... Smiley
