Have you tried it??
Check this site..
www.siteadvisor.com
You can download a free firefox or IE siteadvisor plugin. Once installed,a small button on your browser toolbar changes color either green, yellow or red depending on the site. If it is green, the site is safe. If its yellow, you have to browse with caution (usually high popups) and if its red, stay away from the site. You are surely gonna get some attacks from there.. (test yourself with some crack sites  Smiley )
Also when you search with Google, Yahoo! or MSN, SiteAdvisor's safety ratings appear next to search results.  Smiley  Smiley

I kind of don't use much "protections" on my personal comp, because I have nothing to loose Smiley
