Title: Casseopeya© - new monsterpack
Post by: VirtualWaver on November 25, 2008, 09:19:42 am

CASSEOPEYA©

Hello everyone!

After very long time at last I present you my first monster pack.  Announcement of this monster must been 4 months ago, but because of my occupation, it doesn’t. The monster pack was created “from zero” – from the beginning and its mission was to provide maximal stability, speed and all the innovations up to date. I think I successfully make it! The turn is yours to judge.
Thus, here are the main points of Casseopeya©:

1.Type of monster pack: hybrid (45P +48P).
2.The speed and stability is in very high level: sometimes RAM reaches 11,5mb (see screenshot), stability is on the top: no bugs and lags were discovered, the open speed of File Manager, mp3 and video files is very fast – almost instantly. Many applications are “flying” (in Kaleidoscope© mode the speed is slower).
3.Fundamentally new way to mount your files: henceforth ezx_volumetable, ezx_flexbit, in-build font, libezxaddrbkeng libraries (for Russian users – it makes possible to find names in Contacts by russian symbols), all the contents of iTAP folder (input for different languages), ringtones, pictures, poweron, poweroff, system sounds, “string” folder (makes possible to input the text in the language you want) and voice button can freely be removed and/or modified with your configuration – without any mount scripts. In other words, they are out of read-only zone. There is a folder called SYSTEM FILES in ezx_user folder, in which all described above files and folders are located, which you can freely modify (only with the same names that is original ones):
addressbook folder – there is libezxaddrbkeng libraries. By default, the search in Contacts is only in English words, but if you want to make it also on Russian, just copy and replace all the files from addressbook/rus to addressbook folder and everything will work fine.
- flexbit folder – here is ezx_flexbit.cfg. Here is also a file called ezx_flexbit HSA Enabled.cfg. If you rename it to ezx_flexbit.cfg, the HSA Menu will appear. Be careful – always have your backup of ezx_flexbit.cfg, otherwise many points will be unavailable (for example, installation of mpkg programs).
- font folder – here is the default font. Name of font is AMCSL.TTF. You can freely take any font you like and rename it to AMCSL.TTF and replace with existing one. You font will change as soon as you will restart your phone. The default font doesn’t support Chinese language – only English and Russian.
- iTap folder – here is dictionaries and km files for Russian, English and Chinese languages. If you want to modify the input or remove the language, you can freely modify all the files (for Russian – ru.km , ws003d.km and LxS_iTAP_Dict_Russian.bin , for English - en-us.km and LxS_iTAP_Dict_AmericanEnglish.bin, for Chinese - zh-cn.km and LxS_iTAP_Dict_Chinese_Simplified_GB2312.bin)
picture folder – there is default wallpaper on it, which is called ROKR.png. You can delete it or replace with your wallpaper – just rename any picture to ROKR.png and place it there. If you don’t want any wallpaper in your phones memory – just delete ROKR.png.
- poweroff folder – similarly picture folder. Rename and *.gif file to splash_powerdown_ani_full.gif and place there, or delete existing one, if you don’t want to have splash animation in your phones memory.
- poweron folder – the same. The name of the file is splash_powerup_ani_full.gif.
- ringtones folder – here is the default ringtones. Name of files: Message.mp3, Ring.mp3 and Silence.mp3. Similarly – don’t want them – delete them, want to place yours – just rename them as the same name - Message.mp3, Ring.mp3 and Silence.mp3 and place there.
- sounds folder – system sounds. Similarly – delete and/or modify/replace yours keeping the original names.
- string folder – the input of phone by language. Folders inside of it: en-us (English), ru (Russian) and zh-cn (Chinese). If you, for example, want to delete Chinese language from the phone, just delete the zn-cn folder and zh-cn.km and LxS_iTAP_Dict_Chinese_Simplified_GB2312.bin from iTap folder.
- volumetable folder – here is ezx_volumetable.cfg. Similarly – you can modify/replace the file the way you like.
- vui folder – here is voice button file, which is called vr. There is also many files-presets. The name of each file describing the command that file do. For example, vr Calculator file opens Calculator when voice button is pressed. If you want it, just rename vr Calculator to vr and everything will work fine.
4. The monster is fully compatible with HSA Menu – all the necessary files are included in system iconres (by the way, in Kaleidoscope©  you can change the wallpaper in HSA mode).
5. Now the phone is searching media files only on memory card.
6. Many useful links to memory card are available in File Manager.
7. File Manager now has a System folder, which is similar to LinkSys, but in difference with Linksys, the media searching process will never slow down. Also you can’t read or modify files from System folder, because it is only read-only.
8. The monster supports all the show modules (including the latest ones), binaries, patches and system files that are known for now.  Also BusyBox 1.8.3 and Bash available.
9. The phone, along with Telnet and Samba, supports access via FTP - ftp://192.168.16.2/
10. The default size of Java Heap is 4096kb (you can easily manage it in real-time mode by the program – see below).
11. APMD – 312/520/520.
12. If you want to switch into Kaleidoscope©mode, there is Kaleidoscope.txt in ezxlocal folder – just rename it to autorun.txt and all the features of Kaleidoscope©will appear. Don’t forget, that in Kaleidoscope© mode the phone is slower than in normal mode.
13. When in Kaleidoscope© mode, there is no allocation when writing sms.
14. Video resolution - 177x144 and 240x320 with high bitrate, there is no lugs when recording video (especially in airplane mode). The photocamera improved as well – by default, there is no compression – each photo is more than 1mb.
15. The most advanced and fast kernel by ilove3d (version 2), which gives:
   - multi key press
   - 4gb SD card suppot
   - ext2, ext3 and loop support
           - it doesn’t change mediakey function
           - squash less

16. ezx_flexbit is changed, which gives:
   - “On Always” in Bluetooth connections
   - the phone works without sim card
   - no stupid  warnings in in-build opera anymore
   - Dialing Prefix and Barred Services available
17. MPKG applications installed in memory card without problems.
18. There is some kind “multitasking” in phone – by default, the voice button brings the main menu. This “multitasking” is necessary for example, in RockBox when there is a call. Also, in Kaleidoscope mode you can forget of internet connection breaking. You can be on-line and play games or listen to music – the connection will never lose. Just try to open, for example, mini opera, then bush the voice button, then, in main menu, press the multimedia button (Kaleidoscope mode) and hide the opera process. The connection will never break!
19.You can open the following extensions from File Manager – simply by clicking on them:
Archives and other files:  mtf tar gz ins rar zip lin sh gzip 7z tar.gz tgz bz2 tar.bz2 tar.gz
Text and other files:  txt ini c cfg phm chm java log conf types net lst desktop
Video Files: avi divx asf wmv mpeg mpg mpe vob m1v m2v flv m4v ogm mkv mka mov qt ogg dat bin iso mpc vro (via build-in E2MPlayer).
20. Autorun and First support.
21. Synchronization with Motorola Phone Tools .
22. Skin installation directly from the phone: the skin must have name xxx.skin.rar or xxx.skin.zip, where xxx is the random name. For example ultrablack.skin.rar.  Also xxx.skin.rar(zip) archive must contain 2 folders: first one is setuptheme with current *.chm inside of it and skin folder, which must contain the folder with skin name (in accord with *.chm file) and all skin files inside of it.
23. In-build player works without lugs and skipping when playing mp3 and video.
25. The reset works fine and without problems.
26. All alarm clocks work well, without any surprises, even if there are 5 alarms. All sms works as well. Alarm clocks works by alert style.
27. This firmware is international one: languages - Russian, English and Chinese (you can remove the ones you don’t like as I described above)
28. Many of system sounds are disabling, like voice recorder sound, low battery alarm and so on.
29. The whole volume of the phone is increased (mp3 playback, radio, voice of interlocutor etc).
30. All the unnecessary files from File Manager are removed and the other ones are optimized.
31. Default font – from E2_KZ firmware – very clear and beautiful font (it is not support Chinese symbols – you need to replace it with another one, which is support it)
32. All web sessions are removed – only one is available – for current connection.
33. After Memory Card mode the programs on memory card doesn’t vanish (please, check it – it can be only on my phone!)
34. The whole optimization of system is made – default storage place is memory card, brightness of screen – 1, keypad and backlight timeout – 5 sec and so on.
35. EXT3 Partition is available in File Manager.
36.Build-in programs:

Located in Programs folder:

- PhoneManager – the same PhoneWareManager, new version.
- Calls Firewall – analogue of "Black and White". This program is created by our chinese friends. You can use Silence.mp3 as a ringtone in black mode.
- System Status from ilove3d – system information
- Setup timeout from ilove3d – setup timeout
- HeapManager – you can change the heap size of java in real-time mode by this program. The default heap is 4096kb.
- Audio Switcher – this helps you to get rid of emud process and plug any speakers/headphones to phone in standard player and radio.
- Block the thief – analogue of 'SMS Alarm'.
- Cameraedit by T3D – for changing the video and photo camera resolution
- E2Setting – the same as Super Rabbit –this program allows you to change  many settings of skin (it doesn’t works with stock skin, because the last one is located in usr folder, which is read-only)
- HideFolder – you can easily hide files on memory card
- OpenWith – anyone knows it! :).
- Smartlight – you can change the brightness of the phone simply by clicking on this program
- RokrLight – the best flashlight I ever seen
- Snapshot – create screenshots of the screen of the phone by this program
- E2Mplayer – super video player. The fastest video player I ever seen. If you want to quit the player – just press play button on the phone.
- Vmemory – for creating VirtualMemory. Swap file mounted every time you restart the phone. If you don’t want to automount the swap, just check the autorun.txt and Kaleidoscope.txt – there is a solution how to disable it. This program is for those people, who wants to have swap but don’t want to split memory card by partitions.
- MediaRenamer – the same as Fotoren – this program can easily rename all you media (photo, video, pictures) by the date they have captured.
- EFEM – engineering menu
- SplitSD – this program allows you to split you memory card by mmca1, swap and ext3 partitions.
- SwapControl – this program allows you to mount your swap (if your memory card is already splitted by SplitSD). Just split memory card with SplitSD, then restart the phone, then, if phone asks you to do so, format the memory card, then go to SwapControl, click on Disable/Enable Swap, enable the swap and then click to “Refresh” and swap will be maunted. There is autorun script as well. If you don’t want to automount swap every time, just check the autorun.txt and Kaleidoscope.txt for solution.

Located in Media folder:
- RockBox – audio player

Located in Games folder:
- GameBoy – GBA emulator from Lasly. In archive with this firmware I include E2Mux folder to make work the GBA. Just copy E2Mux folder into your memory card and enjoy – everything is already configured.

Located in Internet folder:
- ICQ – mobile ICQ (this program is on the Russian)
- Opera Mini – the latest Opera Mini for our ROKR E2

All this programs, except System Status and Setup Timeout, can be freely removed from the phone by PhoneManager.

There is also many-many other things in firmware – i just can’t remember all of them!

My thanks to Motofan, Motohell and IT168 forums - together we can do anything!

By default - no, but you can easaly add spanish language without flashing! - just read the instruction about string folder and iTAP folder - you just need to add spanish language files (*.km and dictionary) in and spanish strings to that folders and everything will be works fine!! If you post here that spanish files i will write an instruction how to activate it!

Yes, you are right. I just forget to say about it: it's just because there is folders in ezx_user, that is why the phone cannot delete them! - the "Reset all Data" works fine and without problem - you can use this for restoring everything! But when you press Delete all Data, the phone tryes to delete everything and it can't, because of ezx_user/SYSTEM FILES - that is why it's stop! Just try to not use delete all data! Thanks for report!

You doesn't need to add chinese - because chinese language is already added! You just need to found *.ttf font which is supportet Chinese language and then replace it with an existing one which is located in ezx_user/SYSTEM FILES/font and chinese symbols will appear! For switching into chinese just try - main menu - settings - phone settings- language

   Are you the same?

@Morrow: same that lelan, E2 Settings doesn't change anything, neither base skin nor new ones... it's great, thanks again!

@ebrainte,
You should put the .chm into ezxlocal/download/appwrite/setuptheme.
@ong14,
Yeah, but the speed is just awesome.

I have put the chm there, it showed in the themes list in the phone, but when i set it, it put me the "alkali" skin, like there wasnt any other skin...

I will try reflashing the phone now to see what happens...

I have reflashed it, the same thing... It doesnt recognize ANY theme folder or ANY file I put in SKIN folder, any ideas?

Do you know where is the mount script that mount the files from "SYSTEM FILES"?? I want to modify it to add a line for the APMD. I search in every file i found in the firmware, but i didnt find it...

Title: Re: Casseopeya© - new monsterpack
Post by: LFM on November 29, 2008, 03:45:26 pm
ebrainte, you should check your CHM file, I'm actually making a skin... and the phone recognize and show it ok...

...I've put the skin files in mmc and the chm in ezx_user\..

Title: Re: Casseopeya© - new monsterpack
Post by: ebrainte on November 29, 2008, 03:57:13 pm
Thanks, it worked fine editing the chm file...

Now the last thing that i have to modify is the apmd, can you tell me the lines i have to put to my autorun.txt if my modded apmd is in /ezx_local/apmd? Thanks!

Title: Re: Casseopeya© - new monsterpack
Post by: LFM on November 29, 2008, 04:15:10 pm
I'm not very good in linux-based phone modding... but I'd put:

Code:
#!/bin/bash

if [ -f /ezx_local/apmd/apmd ]
then
  mount --bind /ezx_local/apmd/apmd /usr/bin/apmd
  kill -9 $(pidof apmd) && start-stop-daemon -S -b -x /usr/bin/apmd
fi

...it should be that...

here's how i do it......i install link system mpkg.......open opera mini,go through the system path where the font is,delete it, then copy the new font to the path, all done with opera mini......but, you could probably do it with telnet.....

Yeah,I know..But the size of the font of Zine is about 2 mb.And my free space of ezxuser is only 1,2mb.

Title: Re: Casseopeya© - new monsterpack

Huatz84 I doubt you can find chinese font smaller than 1,2mb.
why your ezxuser only have free 1,2mb? install too many program?
and about battery life, is change APMD will solve the issue?
dibanding BS lebih cepat mana?

Title: Re: Casseopeya© - new monsterpack
Post by: huatz84 on November 30, 2008, 09:28:30 am
I didn't install anything.I just left it default. How much is your ezxuser free space?
I guess by changing AMPD will solve the battery issue coz more speed decreases the battery life.
This FW I think is the fastest FW I have tried.I love to change my firmware and feel the speed of each FW. I can tell you that this is the fastest non-kaledoiscope FW. U should give it a try, bro.

Well i guess its still hard to beat BlackStorm in speed and battery...and i hope Morrow still research for it in this great MP.
I like the audioswitcher, and the new kind of modding by Morrow.

I'm experiencing some issues with this firmware, All the applications stop working, I think they came when I added spanish files but I'm not sure...

...I've flashed it twice with Casseopeya and I've never done a "Reset All Settings" nor "Delete All Data"...

...Going back to english language doesn't fix the problem...

...I have this problem with all 'deleteable' Casseopeya application, System_Status and Setup_Timeout still work...

...Old SD applications still work (motovision, e2mux, gbae2, etc..)

...I don't wanna change this firm, I like it so much! so fast!!!!! Thanks again Morrow!

Maybe there is problem with u'r SysRegistry or UserRegisty file...

Try to delete both of files but don't forget to make backup...

Oh i think there might be a mistake in the explanation, the skin's chm, has to be change (you know the direction) it has to be set to the SD (mmc/mmca1) and i think that solves the problem ^-^

Title: Re: Casseopeya© - new monsterpack
Post by: huatz84 on December 04, 2008, 06:44:30 pm
The chm should be put into ezxlocal/download/appwrite/setuptheme.
And the skin files depend on where it's written in the chm. I always put my skin on the SD.So,my chm path is mmc/mmca1/Themes/the skin name.

Juz curious...
Is the free ram really bigger than other fw ??

It's bigger than most FW, i guess i really never checked the free RAM lol
But i guess that if you have swap on, then it doesn't work that much, it's just better to have than not having it :)

@up
Which type u flash in BP? 4AP/49P/48P or else...

I found this weird memory card problems, the phone recognized my MC and read it well but my computer cannot connect to the phone in MC mode. So i format my MC and format it again in phone, than tphone able to connect in MC mode...
Usually, if my comp doesnt read MC so was my phone in new Fw...

Can anyone tell me how to have 11Mb of free RAM with this fw like in the screenshot???

Title: Re: Casseopeya© - new monsterpack
Post by: solidsnake on December 10, 2008, 01:51:29 am
@polarbear
open GBA emu and run any game, after a while press red key than exit GBA. than open sys info. usually I get more than 10mb after that.
BUT it will decrease again to about 1mb after I open another app like calendar or even calculator!

i try to load 32mb rom without swap and it opened less than 5sec...

this is strange coz i need 10sec or more to load that game with swap turned on...

3mb free ram beat 128mb swap...
How could this happen ??

Title: Re: Casseopeya© - new monsterpack
Post by: Exploited on December 10, 2008, 05:21:19 am
just few thoughts - fragmentation of data? Or maybe the program must load the entire swap before using it?

Usually you should not need more RAM than you need. For example if your APP requires 2MB of RAM - it does not matter if you have 2 free or 200 free...

Title: Re: Casseopeya© - new monsterpack
Post by: solidsnake on December 10, 2008, 07:37:09 am
yeah I found it also the swap actually slowing down the performance.
Playing the same MP4 video with ZMplayer, smooth without swap, and lagging alot with swap on.

Post by: huatz84 on December 10, 2008, 08:37:35 am
@solidsnake,
If you want to use fonts which support Chinese, you can use Font Changer 1.1.
I can use 2,8 mb font with this mpkg.

Title: Re: Casseopeya© - new monsterpack
Post by: dustin on December 10, 2008, 01:52:10 pm
It only happen with native apps but doesn't affect java apps...

I can solved that problem with make 3 swapfile(32mb each swapfile) and change the priority of my swapfile...
But it juz increase the whole system speed a little...
Sadly i really need swap coz i usualy open 3-5 midlets while listen music...

If phone contacts and messages are stored in phone memory, they'll be deleted after flashing...

...it does not happen if they are stored in SIM card, it's one of the most important point you should did before flashing...

...unless you had done a backup it's impossible...

...luck for the next, I'm sorry  :-[

Title: Re: Casseopeya© - new monsterpack

Main Menu > Settings > Connections > USB Setting > Memory Card

...add the songs and then Refresh your media content via Options soft button in Music Channel...

...even Casseopeya is an awesome firm, I recommend you Black Storm, I went back to Black Storm due several bugs found, the creator said he's developing a new firm, we should wait for it...

Good evening guys!!

I'am already on my way on developing the next major update of Casseopeya. I hope, i will finish it before Christmas as a Christmas gift for all! :) I need to collect all bugs you have discovered. If there any bugs which are not reported here, please, write about that bugs, so i will correct them all! : )

I dont know if it was mentioned before, or if you are not considering it as a bug, but we cant install themes using the .skin.rar and neither installing manually, i had to put my skin on the sd to work... and with my skin i have the message bug, but with blackstorm (for example) with that skin, the message bug wasnt there...

I will wait the next version anxiously!!!

Bye.-

Nope, E2light use the screen as the flash light, since the LED in the back of the phone will burn if you turn it on for a long time

Hei if you want to release the new Casseopeya, i have some proposal

- it would be better if there is a built in backup tools for data phone (sms, email, contact, etc.)

- if possible it will be nice if E2processMgr installed built in with autorun in the first boot and after refresh..because we don't have task manager in this f/w..

Looking forward for next release.. ::)

best regards

this my experience using this mp (sorry for my bad english)

first, after flash my phone with this mp, i check the media player. very good sound quality, than any 48p mp. but i think 4ap much better sound quality.

later, the speed is very good, but the ram, the people say this mp has bigger free ram than any mp, but not! when i received my sms delivery report, i cannot delete it! it always say, the memory is full!! what the? and my inbox filled with many delivery reports.

because of it, i revert back to maxx3. i  think the sound quality is much better and speed not very slow either (kaleid ver). the fastest kaleid ver mp i ever had. but still lose to this casseopeya's speed. not bad, consider the feature that kaleid had.

I flashed this mp... The speed and stability is great. Only few things to mention:
1. Having one skin is ok, but it should be better than the current one :)
2. Shutdown animation is too slow.
3. FM radio cannot be played without headset... I miss that :)

All the rest is great... No complaints so far!

I installed the FW

But i have a problem, i cant install skins Magic Glass i installed them,
i' ve put the Magic Glass.chm into ezx user\download\appwrite\setu\theme
and the path of Magic Glass i've put on system\mmc\mmca1\themes\magic glass
but when i try to set it in the phone, the themes dont appear and still the default.

and i've try the same thing with Dark 3 reload skin, and it work's

in other ways i've try installed iphone skin
i' ve put the iPhone.chm into ezx user\download\appwrite\setup\theme
and the path of iPhone i've put on system\mmc\mmca1\themes\magic glass then didnt work
but when i try to put this on ezx local\download\appwrite\skin its works fine....

Any suggestion about this? because in F/w Katze 3 Aztek enginering they works finely..

Thanks.-
