This is the basic guide to convert your E398 to ROKR E1 so that you get many features such as Video recording, Corelets support, AAC audio support, Quad band, Voice record, Java on memory card etc etc on your E398..

   - The 42R_FOR_ALL full MP can be downloaded from HERE (http://www.e398mod.com/content/view/506/30/) HERE (http://rapidshare.com/files/4481028/Original_42R-for-all_MP__E398_ONLY_.7z)   or HERE (http://www.divshare.com/download/632580-97a)

   - There is no need to fix the iTunes issue. Just flash a new Monster Pack after flashing the 42R_FOR_ALL. Monster Packs can be downloaded from HERE (http://www.e398mod.com/content/category/7/13/30/)

   - If you cant find PST anywhere,you can use FLASH BACKUP (http://www.e398mod.com/content/view/51/28/) for flashing..

   - 4XR (esp. 42R,46R,49R) are the best firmwares for your e398 in terms of sound and battery life eventhough they do not have unimited video recording as in the case of 6FR and 7XR. Now we have unlimited video recording on elektro255's modded 46R firmware,but its not stable yet.

   - Please always do backups before flashing.None other than yourself is responsible for any damage that occurs on your phone

You can actually flash many monster packs directly without 42_for_all... but it is always safer to stick to the official tutorial :)

How come,bro? Dont we have to convert R372 to R373 before flashing other MPs?

CG7 makes the conversion. If the Monster Pack contains it - your phone will convert

I usually flash this: http://www.e398mod.com/content/view/65/30/ (CG7 only) for safety (haha it actually kills your phone, so I can't say "safety") and then flash MP

But that cg7 only did not work for me.. Also there were many from M3 and MoMo saying that the phone still remained on r372 after flashing cg7 only..

After successful flash it is supposed to actually "kill" your phone.

CG7 only (1st flash) + R373 Monster Pack (2nd flash) will convert from R372 to R373

what if my phone cannot enter the boot loader?? when i push *+#+ red button nothing hapenned..
i got my e398 serviced a week ago.. they turn back my phone into mtv hijack version, now i want to flash it back.. what should i do?

If your phone detected by FB, you can flash it to another MP. Or you can Forcedboot your phone.

without enter the boot loader?? i've tried but it can't, it will disconnect for a moment

yup. sometimes bootloader show blank screen, but if FB can detect your phone it can be flash.
Another way, have u try force boot?

so u use p2k tools to flash it..
Try FB (FlashNBackup).. :)

Whats the different between F&b and P2k? i use P2k to flash and never had a problem

P2k = free
F&b3 = Trial

Hi all...i have a simple question wich one is better E398 or ROkr E1?

Cuz I give myE398 to my Dad, I vote for E1ROKR :)

E398 are the base for Rokr E1, but all i see the advantage from Rokr E1 is only LCd and iTunes, is it  true? or E1 have other functions?

Like Jith said at page 1, we can record video, corelet support, iTunes, LCD, install java from TF, etc.. that E398 cant..

All patches are for R373 platform... Thats a biggie.

E398 reflashed can do that... except LCD and iTunes Key

my e398 was dead cz i'm doing a fool..i forget to convert  it from r372 to r373,,
and my phone was life again cz i take it to service center,,

now i want to flash my phone again,,
that Cg7 only can convert to r373??

i'm afraid it will dead again..

and what is full backup??
are full backup is only backing up the original f/w??
or with PDS n Bootloader too??


please help me i'm newbie

Better use fb 2.6.2 to make fullbackup 32MB!
Yes u need backup your PDS n bootloader.
If 42R for all CG7 only didn't work for u, u can use 42R for all fullflash.
Make sure u have PDS backup.

yeah when i flash 42R CG7 only,my phone was stuck..i think its dead,,

but i flashed again 42R full,my phone was good n bluetooth addres is fine,

unfortunately i havent back up my PDS n BL if my phone dead

why ever i want to MFF i can't do it.  it's the last part ane i can upgrade my e398 but until now i can't becuase very i want to klik start always a popup said the application it not initializ?

i've use vista too.
the strange thing about vista, i can't use MFF or RSD Lite to flex hs file.
but it can be use to work with flashing shx.

so when i upgrade e398 phone in vista, i use this method:
1. fullbackup e398 (BL mode) with FB 2.62 with BIN extension
2. flash R373_42R_for_all with FB 3.06
3. flash with whatever MP with R373 firmware
4. edit PDS with FB 2.62 to restore HW and BT address

I'm currently running on 49R on E398, is it possible to go back to 1ER?
I'm asking this because my PDS is 4013, while 1ER use 4011. Anyone ever try?

Why would you wanna go to 1ER? I wanted it for one period, but never got to it... People told it was buggy and all, missing features and stuff, only it was slightly faster (then what? probably not every 4xR... (btw, 48R is THE fastest ;) )...

But, if you have a FULL backup of your phone while it was on 1ER, just restore it and there you are..!
