Title: [BETA] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: arctu on January 06, 2008, 07:14:24 am
e2Revival: Back From Hell INCOMPLETE RELEASE
Refer to last post. ;)

-------------------------------------------------------------
I have thought of this idea for quite a long time. Even thought of doing it myself but then, maybe it's better if it's community work.

e2Revival: Back From Hell
As the name suggests, the main aim of this project is to bring about the revival of E2. The firmware focused on simple core with many new applications that makes E2 a lot better. A team is needed as this firmware would be quite a big project. I want to use vanheumai's Only You V3 as base since it's fast for me, faster than V4.(but I'm open to suggestions)

Feel free to suggest new features but please bear in mind that I want this firmware to be fast and leaves customization to the user. (maybe we could make theme packs)

I can be a scripter if you want... :) But im not good enough... Hehe... ;) I still learning about script shell and currently learn python...but i dont have any experience with C/C++... :(

I glad to see this thread, but i think there is a main problem here... We need more memory, especially when we want to use python in /bin... It needs alot of memory in CG43... Is squashfs can help?

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: arctu on January 06, 2008, 08:17:58 am
Honestly, I haven't tested python yet on E2. So I don't know of it's memory consumption. I heard squashfs isn't as fast as cramfs right? (probably why onlyyouv4 is slower than v3)..

PM me your email or preferably msn so we can talk about python. Oh, any scripter would do, I wouldn't mind if you can't do c++. ;)

You can see my email at my profile page... :) Python need atleast 1,15mb to include it in /bin, and there is still the lib that need about 14,5mb... But we can put both optional in SD...

I've some experience programming @ C/C++, VB, and several other languages (I'm electronics engineer (: ).  I would like to work with you on this, I've a couple of good ideas to add there; but actually I don't have a PC where to work at. :(
At least I could help with my ideas  :-[ or being beta tester... see you on msn?

PS: we could contact lasly, he have been waiting for a developers team to be started  8)
PS2: Check out this folder (http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/pdaxrom/download/r198/c1000-c3x00/feed/) This is the place from we got the python and perl binaries (well, really masiosare from M3 told me about the site, I told that to lasly, lasly to 3d, and so on...).

Alright, updated the first post.

@Taurnil
How come you don't have any PC to work with? In anycase, if you have experience in C/C++, you can help me sometimes with the language as I'm not a pro. (: Ideas are greatly welcomed, just post ideas here.

i only can say Good Luck ppl ;)

what about kernel editor :D

I think u will need Russian modders, Chinese modders, all modders who developed E2 so far. (from skin, pc software to firmware.)
Like ilove3d, DDSH, and many more.. sry i can't mention everyone

I'll be working on this fully once I had success in making SDL work properly in E2 or when I totally gave up on SDL. (:

Meanwhile, can any of you contact vanheumai and ask if he's interested?

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: arctu on January 10, 2008, 02:03:40 am
@zjole
I'll be willing to wait for you till you finished your exams. (;

@keaglez
Yes, here's your part of the job: NoName(AutoRun Manager).

there would be autorun files in a folder..(/ezxlocal/.system/autorun/). each file in this folder handles an autorun function for e.g.

Quote
#!/bin/bash
## Name: Automount mmca5
## Author: keaglez

mkdir /mmc/mmca5
mount /dev/mmca5 /mmc/mmc5
## EOF

So, what your script does is, read the files in this folder, get the name and list them with multiselectdialog. by utilising the checkboxes, it will generate the autorun.txt by simply adding the line to exec the corresponding script. get the idea? i don't know if this is possible with bash alone. if it requires a native program to work perfectly, just tell me.. Also, feel free to add your own ideas along.. (:

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: keaglez on January 10, 2008, 02:15:23 am
Yes, i think its possible with only bash shell... :) Btw just for confirm, i need to make two script, right? First is the list of function in autorun.txt and the second is the multi select box that read from autorun.txt, am i right?

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: zjole on January 10, 2008, 02:31:13 am
All my exams will be over by next Thursday.

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: keaglez on January 10, 2008, 05:51:13 am
Hehe... I almost finished this script... ;) It will able to read the script file (.lin) in /ezxlocal/.system/autorun/ and write to the exec list in /ezxlocal/autorun.txt... The autorun.txt will be able to read the function from the script file and use exec variable to call the function... Now i still test it...hope it will work well... ;D So with this autorun manager, we can place every script (the script must contain function only and various variable), and manage it easily..! Hehe... Its a very great idea Arctu... ;D

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: arctu on January 10, 2008, 06:11:39 am
@keaglez
Yes. exactly. You got the point! Isn't it a great autorun manager? If you're done with it.. maybe what you can do next is improvise it by lets say... your multiselect dialog would remember the previous autorun setting or something along the line. (;

@zjole
Sure. I'll wait. I'm working on the applications for now. After we're done with the applications, then we move to firmware editing.

Btw, everyone, I only have till 28th Jan to do this. So hope we can complete this as fast as possible.

Currently, I'm working on completing rokrGui, that is cleaning up the source code(so I can release to the public) and made it not script dependent, totally native app.

@Arctu, absolutely... It should be complete tonight... :) Once i finished, i will send you the script... ;)

@keaglez
Somehow, your script doesn't work on mine. (I'm on EXTREME2). Your script isn't able to write to autorun.txt(console output "Nothing changed"). I even tried running the script with root(from telnet), still doesn't work.

Oh... Should be wrong with the setconfig binary..... I will change to use sed now... :)

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: arctu on January 11, 2008, 06:50:35 am
@keaglez
Good job. Your next task is: (Flexible+Autorun memory mounter, able to select which partitions(besides first partition) to mount).

For this, its just a `mount | grep /dev/mmc` and get the list of mounted devices and create a list for the user to select to umount. (Checkbox list would be fine).

As for mounting, you can check file system type and partition name by `fdisk -l /dev/mmca | grep /dev/mmca`. With that, you create a list similar to umount list above but this one is for mounting. You should also check if the partition is already mounted before adding it to the "Want to mount" list. Up for the challenge?

----

For me, actually, I wanted to do NoName(System Info Viewer) and NoName(Font Select with Preview) today but I'm encoutering some life problems atm.. Sorry..

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware

About the music key, I would like the following options:
OK if you press it quickly
Stock Music Player if you hold it for a couple seconds
Task manager if you hold it like 4 or more seconds

that would make us happy ;)

@taurnil
that is nice idea.. but in my suggestion

press once for Music Player
press hold for Task Man..

2 function for music button is enough

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: arctu on January 17, 2008, 08:13:45 pm
@keaglez
I'm delayed too...
Was working on SystemInfo when I got tired and work on rockbox instead. =p
Anyway, it's kind of progressing slowly. Will work on it after I fix several rockbox issue.

@zjole
Hmm..
"Load MontaVista Kernel From Phone but EZX files from SD"
Can you try to mess with the init.d files to see if you can boot /bin /usr /sbin /etc on /mmc/mmca5 (ext3) partition? Right after the partitions are mounted, check if the folders are available, if so, then mount --bind. I don't know if this is possible but just give it a try. (:

@Taurnil & Rauna
After a few observations, I don't think that it can be done. I think Kaleidoscope replace itune key function with task manager. It's hardcoded in the "AM" file. Am I right zjole?

@Phizzy
Beta testers will be decided when it's ready for beta. It'll be about who is available at that time. (:

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: zjole on January 17, 2008, 09:40:20 pm
@arctu
It seems I have to dig into the init.d files first to see if it's possible.I guess it'll be a little hard to me but I'll try.:)

about the task manager,I must agree.Unless we know how hobbit19 managed to do that,we cant modify it.

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: keaglez on January 18, 2008, 12:15:48 am
@arctu, it must be possible since i use it..! Check out the Full Access script by DDSH, we create a link to the files that mounted in tempSystem (linked to VirtualSystem) then use mount --bind...hmm a little hard to explain... :)

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: arctu on January 18, 2008, 01:39:12 am
@keaglez
Yup, I know it's possible. But what we're doing here is quite different. We want to RUN ALL SYSTEM APPS from Mem Card. For that, mount --bind must be successful before the phone apps start loading. Know what I mean?

Anyway, I'm re-working on rokrGui so that it's standalone(no more scripts) and I'm also fixing some graphical glitch. You know, the api we have really make me suffer. Working on an application that should only take you a day will actually stole a few more days from you.

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: arctu on January 18, 2008, 03:06:31 am
@zjole
If it isn't possible, then please do this: Analyze EXTREME fw to the max. I want to know the features of EXTREME. Even though I'm using V4, I only know few of EXTREME's new features.

Even though our firmware would be based on V3, there will be addition of new features from EXTREME; features that does not sacrifice speed only.

EDIT:
Almost ready with SystemInfo. (:
Will post screenshot tomorrow. Oh, keaglez, why don't you post you screenshots too? You told me that you are going to post it that time... =p

Okay, for the last screenshot(Utility Menu), Autorun Manager will be linked to Keagle's Autorun Manager, MPKG/JAVA Manager to Phoneware, (so that they need not appear in ToolBox menu), Mount Manager and Process Manager is still unknown. So far so good? What more info do you want this program to provide?

OMG.. That is so awesome.. cant wait to get new E2.. One programe gather a full of useful utility.. its so great bro..

in my idea, u can add console or Terminal

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: arctu on January 18, 2008, 08:46:37 pm
Hmm, I've thought about that but some people(like me) wants quick access to terminal, so, putting it as a link in this program wouldnt be efficient. Anyway, I just remembered, I will add Swap File Manager(VMemory) as a link in the Utility Menu.

I help you post (: ...

keaglez autorun manager
(http://keaglez.e2mod.com/upload/blog/autorun_manager_snap.png)

my rokrcp update:
(http://www.aktaeon.com/wp-content/uploads/rokrcp2.png)
Loading screen at start(because it takes times for the CP to load)

(http://www.aktaeon.com/wp-content/uploads/rokrcp1.png)
There's lots of utilities (:

(http://www.aktaeon.com/wp-content/uploads/rokrcp4.png)
Confirmation dialog.. for some reason.. it is needed.. =p

(http://www.aktaeon.com/wp-content/uploads/rokrcp3.png)
When you run a utility, another load screen will appear...

Why loading screens? To make the phone appear less laggy.

For the utilities,
Autorun Manager => keaglez's
File Associations => OpenWith
MPKG/JAVA Manager => Phoneware Manager
APMD Manager => DDSH's APMD Changer (major backlight bug? anybody know the fix?)
SwapFile Manager => My VMemory
Mount Manager => keaglez's
Process Manager => (Simple Task Manager?)

How's that? =) I'm trying to make it look professional.. did I succeed?

Single quotes will not show the value of variable, so it useless. Using backslash also didnt help... :(

I think we all missed out on an important feature... The flashlight!

Firstly, I think we should set a hotkey for the flash light, maybe we can use the previous/next buttons on the side to switch on and off the flashlight...
Also we should set the default flashlight setting in camera mode to 'No flashlight'

Main features of 48p extreme:
1.The new rokr and phoneware manager,of course
2.checks if messaging process is running after the phone boots.If not,start it manually.(/etc/rc.d/rc2.d/S80Messaging)
3.Can install skins to sd card by clicking on skin archives or extract the archives to the skin folder in sd card.(sdtheme)
4.play sound when plug in/remove sd card and mount/umount ext3 partitions,enable/disable swap,(see /etc/hotplug/mmc.agent)
5. web server(https://motohell.com/index.php?topic=1364.0)

In my opinion,these feature won't affect speed at all.Speed has much to do with the skin you're using.Those use lots of png icons will be laggy and even cause the messaging process not to start when the phone boots.That's while ilove3d add the S80Messaging script.And it's almost certain that kaleidscope features affect speed a little.E2 should be faster without them.

So I suggest we make two seperate versions of this firmware.One with kaleidscrope and the other not.:)

@zjole
Nice work. Okay, then I'll drop of that idea.

Actually, there's more to EXTREME. (:
Do you know that under unKnown folder there's a system directory? And ilove3d managed to do this without producing the Media Player Refresh Bug. That's why I wanna know what other changes did EXTREME brought upon.

So your next task is, create a prototype firmware (from OYV3) and integrate features of EXTREME: The New Softwares(and the busybox), Messaging Fix, the Sounds, system folder. For the moment, I don't want to add in Skin from SD first and the hotplugs of extra partitions(/dev/mmca5 etc.). Can you also do a mknod for /dev/mmca2 to /dev/mmca4. It's mysteriously missing. Please do include kaleidoscope. Under /usr/SYSqtapp create a folder for rokrRevival and mount --bind it to /ezxlocal/rokrRevival.

Then, we will start integrating our newly made applications nicely to the firmware.

Also, IF you have more time, can you play around with DDSH's APMD changer? I need it to work nicely and without the backlight bug.

Regarding separate versions, I don't think its time to worry about it now. (:

Anybody like stuff like this? This appears when Media Player is loading... Would this be better than just "click mediaplayer icon and wait for about 3 seconds for the program to start"?

Post by: zjole on January 20, 2008, 04:59:47 am
Yeah,there are more in Extreme but those I mentioned are the main features.:)Others might not mean so much for end users.

The Ro_SYSTEM link under unKnown fold is read-only.Thus it wont produce the media refreshing bug.

Only You V3 is almost the same with Only You(V1) except kaleidoscope features,right?
I cant download v3 from any of the mirrors in this thread (https://motohell.com/index.php?topic=1252.0).
I guess I have to mod on v1 which I can download from e2mod...

Hi,arctu.
The prototype firmware based on ONLY YOU V3 is almost done.But you'll still get "Install to MMCA1" option by clicking on a skin archive.You see,it's coded in rokr so I cannot simply remove it.And the "File List" function isn't working properly.
I'm trying to fix it and will upload the firmware to somewhere when it's done.

No,I mean we don't change the color themes.Just improve/replace some of the icons.
You see,the idea of kaleidoscope skin is from Oxygen Icons (http://www.oxygen-icons.org/?cat=3) of KDE4.
I believe there's much more in KDE4 we can "port" to e2 skins.;)
And there's lots of screenshots out there,hope they'll inspire you.:)

At last, flashed rokrRevival Prototype. How I flashed it? Flashed the prototype and then flashed Original V3 without CG 34 and 43. (Extracted using ezxcodec)

@zjole:
1. For the langpack, cramfs or squashfs?(I prefer cramfs) Is it using Van's Language System?
2. I can feel that it's faster than V4.. (:
3. Sorry, but can you list the modifications you did?
4. Theme Aten and Crystal Blue not needed. (Lite)
5. And.. somehow, my phone loads Aten on first boot up. LOL.
6. The skins contain bugs? I got a 3x4 icon list.
7. As for the Kaleidoscope issue, here's my solution:

Instead of creating an activation script for Kalei, make a deactivation script. So, those who don't want kalei will need to run the script. keaglez might want to create an autorun script for that.

8. /etc/init.d/ezxenvr.sh: You forgot to replace this with a newer one right?
9. In ezxenvr.sh: Add /mmc/mmca1/.system/bin to $PATH and /mmc/mmca1/.system/lib to $LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
10. Replace /bin with the newer apps.
11. Good job on the mmca devices on /dev. (: But, in /mmc there's no mount points for them.. =p (You can blame me for not reminding you)
12. Where's my EZXTERM? lol.
13. FMRADIO application is not Kaleidoscope's
14. About the rokr app, no worries, it will be scrapped and replaced with my rokrGui

Having said that, there's no need for you to make another prototype. (; I'll send you a folder with rokrRevival's replacements when everything is nicely done for the real closed beta.

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: zjole on January 26, 2008, 06:04:54 am
@arctu
If you're using OY3 now just flash the sbf file.If not,you can replace cg34 and cg43 of OY3 with those of the prototype firmware and generate a new sbf file.Later on,you only need to flash cg34 and cg43 since all the changes will be done in these two code groups.

There's no need to use squashfs for langpack.ilove3d used it just for the big Chinese font.In fact,I'm not goning to change the langpack of OY3 at all.
Not too many modifications.I just did what you suggested in page 4.
The skin is ok in my case,that's odd...I'll check it.
I thought you dropped the idea of loading binaries and libs from sd card.So I didn't add the environmental path.
Binaries are already the new ones form Extreme.
It seems I forgot to create mount point in /mmc.lol
I didn't know you wanted ezxterm to be built in.hehe

I'll create another one and test it myself.:)

@zjole
Create a full fw next time kay? I told ya, I flashed Prototype then OYV3-CG34&CG43. It works... (:

/bin apps aren't the newest. The new showQ when runs without argument, will show help. I'll zip the binaries and upload somewhere.

Since you wanna build another fw, then.. make sure u address issue:
7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13.

Hmm, just wondering, how much space can we use for the preload apps? I'm thinking of integrating mplayer and rockbox.

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: zjole on January 26, 2008, 06:20:25 am
I wanted to save some uploading and flashing time.So I removed the other code groups.:)

oh,I thought the show* binaries were the same.ilove3d must have updated them.

I'll make another to make sure everything is all right.:)

There's not much space in cg43.But we can put apps in cg34 and make soft links.

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: arctu on January 26, 2008, 06:24:44 am
hmm.. CG34 eh?
CG34 is the user's space?

Just copy the /bin and paste it in there. (literally) (:

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: zjole on January 26, 2008, 06:31:50 am
cg34 is the resource pack(/usr/data_resource) where preloaded ringtones,wallpapers,skins,javas and other stuff stored.
I used to put mplayer there and make a soft link under /bin in my own firmware.
Code:
ln -s /usr/data_resource/preloadapps/mplayer /bin/mplayer

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: arctu on January 26, 2008, 06:54:10 am
ah.. yes..

no need soft link.. just create a rokrRevival folder in there.. with subdirectories, qplayer and rockbox. then we put in the files in there respectively.. the script needs some editing to work though.

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: keaglez on January 26, 2008, 10:41:56 am

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: zjole on January 27, 2008, 03:38:23 am
Langpack is the same as OY3.

yes,if we replace the font with stock one,there'll be much more space for apps.:)

If its possible, I've would have made one. (:
But as the SDK is right now, it's impossible for me. We don't have access to (multi) line edit, or the rich text widget. So, for now, people need to depend on (slow) java for editing text.

@zjole
Yeah, somewhat, I'm filling missing spaces for rokrRevival on my free time. Please do! I was thinking of a preconfigured apmd like keaglez said. However, what can we do about voltage? Some people run at slower speed to save battery... I think you know what I mean.. hehe

@keaglez
What I meant was.. you create "autorun.lin" script. Then a user or dev simply has to do "autorun.lin add SwapFile". The "autorun.lin" will check if the corresponding autorun script is available (in this case SwapFile.lin). If available, then add the autorun command in /ezxlocal/autorun.txt like what your autorun_manager do. Am I clear? (:

What I meant was.. you create "autorun.lin" script. Then a user or dev simply has to do "autorun.lin add SwapFile". The "autorun.lin" will check if the corresponding autorun script is available (in this case SwapFile.lin). If available, then add the autorun command in /ezxlocal/autorun.txt like what your autorun_manager do. Am I clear? (:
Emmm...hmmm... Let my small brain think...... So...the autorun.lin is a script for checking and deal with command line argument...isnt it?

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware

LOL... people are just like that, wishing that things will appear in front of them. (: They'll download and complain once its released...

(I do appreciate people who nominate themselves for Beta Testing.. ^^)

@keaglez
Anyway, how is the autorun thingy going? We're gonna need one more thing and the core apps of E2 revival is done - unmount. Just a simple script that when you click, totally unmounts the SD. For eg. Click "Unmount SD"... The script will report "success" or show error message... with show* ofcourse. That's easy to make right?

@zjole
How's the apmd changer going? Any progress?

I'm gonna have about 3 days of free time.. no school.. (: So, I'll be working on the softwares that somewhat handles cosmetics.. And then, if everything goes well, we might be ready for a beta.

I will try to complete the autorun script today, or maybe tommorow... :) The "Unmount SD" have the same function like Device Manager? The simplier one? Need the swapoff too, right?

Btw i saw this thread at motofan.ru... I hope some of them want to join us... :)

Bleh, as I said, it's normal for people. I'm a person to... We are all people.. (:

Yup. You got it right. Not just a simplier.. a very very simple one... (: Just a simple click-and-done script. Call it EjectSD. Oh, btw, take your time.

Update:

Russians from motofan.ru: borndead, AstaRoth, DDSH, 3-D are creating an MP and wishes for us to merge efforts. This is somewhat a great news. However, I wonder if our focus is different... We focus on speed and simplicity, but for them, they are really actually making a MonsterPack.

What do you guys think?

Updated first post. Please check it out.

@zjole
Rockbox is too large to be integrated. Am I right? (: Therefore, can you integrate the core files? (rockbox/bin and rockbox/lib). The SDL libs should be placed in /lib. Can you also integrate my QPlayer? QPlayer shouldn't have any problems.. just need to edit the qplayer.lin file.

Any news on the APMD changer? If you can't do it.. then just tell me cause you are not actually a software developer in this team.. you are a firmware maker.. (:

@mixel
Good to hear there's people who are interested... But currently, I don't think we need any more programs... Well, we do need an APMD changer... but, that depends on whether zjole have fix/make one already.

Stay tuned for screenshots!

Hi arctu.Sorry for the late reply.
I've been dealing with some 'personal affair' these two days and haven't worked on the apmd changer.Really sorry...:(
I hope it's not too late.

I'm afraid the core binaries of rockbox is still too large to be placed in cg43.I'll check it out.

BTW:Do you want the menu layout to be exactly the same as that in the first post?

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: zjole on February 05, 2008, 10:10:08 pm
One more thing to mention.It seems if we want the cpu to run at the desired frequency determined by ampd,the kernel has to be modified.Otherwise cpu frequency will drop even if you use a 416_all apmd.So shall we replace the kernel of OY3?

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: arctu on February 05, 2008, 10:14:00 pm
@zjole
Nope. It's not late. (:
Rockbox core binaries should fit... They are just over a few mbs.. In any case, qplayer should fit in too right? It's around 6mb.

Regarding the APMD... If I'm not mistaken, the original OY3 kernel already has Overclocking enabled right? (I have yet to try overclocking on this prototype firmware)

Oh, yes, the menu should be that way.. and please take note of the Apps.. It's a renamed Games.. This is so that all java installed apps goes in there instead of "Games".. Also, the preloaded java apps should only be MiniCommander and Mobile GMaps. If you need a link for those, pm me. And don't forget to preload Terminal Emulator.. (;

Ah, I kept on forgetting, do you want to make the Kaleidoscope Deactivate script?

@mixel
We'll decide the beta testers when a beta is ready.. (:

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: zjole on February 05, 2008, 10:35:26 pm
All right,I'll try my best.:)

In fact,the space left in cg43 is so limited that files larger than 100kb might not fit.The size of the cramfs image is fixed(26mb) and it's that large already.
But I think I can still intergrate rockbox and qplayer by placing them in cg34 and make links.

I don't know which kernel OY3 is using.If van used kernels from ilove3d.Then it wasn't OC enabled.
Have you watched the frequency when have it overclocked?

edit:I tried to oc to 416 MIPS and at first it did run at 416 MIPS but very soon it dropped to 312(after I pressed any of the keyboard).Then I tried some multi-tasking(playing music while run the Real Time SysInfo mpkg).The MIPS rose to 416 again.
I believe the right kernel for oc is this one (http://ezxdev.org/overclocking/000a0000.bin_2).I'll tried it myself later.

-----------------

Confirmed.CPU BogoMIPS remains at 416 after I flashed the kernel from the link.I've made it into sbf.If anyone want to test it,
download it here (http://www.mediafire.com/?e1cjv0djyjb).:)

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: arctu on February 05, 2008, 11:51:20 pm
Then we have no choice. Make links.. (:

I haven't tried overclocking on this prototype fw. I'll try it in a while. As for the link you gave, how do I flash it? LOL.. I'm a newb at flashing..

EDIT: For qplayer, the files will be preloaded.. You only need to make links for mplayer. the mplayer link should be at /bin.

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: zjole on February 06, 2008, 01:47:54 am
The problem is the kernel from that link don't have "multiple key pressing" support.I guess a lot people want it.

I wonder if there's someone here knows how to modify the kernel...

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: arctu on February 06, 2008, 03:01:08 am
Wait the minute... use the kernel from EXTREME.. I should have support for OC.

Regarding the BogoMips going up only for a second.. I think it should be like that.. APMD has 3 levels right? Low, Mid, High. Meaning.. if I set Mid to 416 it will stay 416 all the way.. it worked on EXTREME..

EDIT:
@keaglez
I'm waiting for your scripts. Heh..

@Rauna
Can you make a bootscreen, powerup and powerdown animation for E2 Revival? Hehs..

EDIT2:
Tested on prototype rokrRevival(OYV3+REVIVAL CGs): Underclocked APMD 108_208_312. It works. My rokrCP reports bogomips as 208... How did you conclude that OC doesnt work on the current kernel?

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: zjole on February 06, 2008, 05:59:28 am
Isn't the 108_208_312 apmd the standard one? And cpu bogomips changes among these three levels according to cpu usage.When idle
it should be 108.
In order to see if OC wokrs perfectly,I tested with a 416_416_416 apmd.cpu bogomips should be 416 all the time regardless of usage.But,it would drop to 312 once I pressed any key(it would remain 416 if I leave the phone "untouched").How did I know the frequency dropped?I checked the bogomips in telnet(cat /proc/cpuinfo) and with a "realtime sysinfo" app which can refresh every 0.5s.

@zjole
In OYV3 or rather, this prototype fw, the default is 208_312_416 or probably 108_312_416. (; I changed the apmd to my own(the one I spoke of on the previous post[i wrote a typo there, its actually 52_104_208]) and the BogoMips changed. I even felt the phone to be more sluggish. FYI, I'm using my own custom APMD made using the software found on e2mod, not by using a script on the phone. Try the apmd I've attached.

rokrcp and rokrgui are awesome.:)

I got the 416_all_apmd from motofan.ru,posted by dimichxp.(I believe it's he who made OC possible first)The modified kernel was compiled by him too.Take a look at this post: https://motohell.com/index.php?topic=678.msg3534#msg3534

oh,I've got something(attached) to show you,arctu.I guess you'll be interested.;)

@Taurnil
You mean link mplayer to /ezxlocal folder or sd card for example and provide a ins archive to let the user to install it after flash the fw?
Why don't you help us fix the apmd changer. ;D

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware

@zjole
You're right... I do believe that he's the one who made it work. Even so, have you tried my modified apmd? You'll know what I mean then.

Thanks for telling me about the e2mplayer. (: However, it's just basic gui. I wanted to make my qplayer this way at first actually but there was a lot of limitations(for eg. e2 doesnt have a file browser). Nevertheless, the source code taught me something... Maybe I'm gonna try the discovery on qplayer.. Thanks again... Ofcourse, thanks to the author for releasing the source code.

@Taurnil, zjole
I believe that isn't nescessarily. I don't want to use user's ezxlocal space(it should be used for other purpose like skins). If the user wants to update, we can just use mount --bind at autorun (now we have the brilliant autorun manager from keaglez).. (;

I hope I can share these wonders to everyone soon!

EDIT:
@zjole
Try the apmd I've attached with the default kernel on oyv3. My results are:
Idling - 103.76Mhz
Normal - 311.28/518.80Mhz
Heavy - 518.80Mhz

BOLD: I think this is where people get confused. As you know APMD job is actually to control speed according to needs... My apmd works fine.. Just that, why does 312 still exists? :S

Btw, tested speeds with cat /proc/cpuinfo with Rockbox and QPlayer.

That happens cuz E2's processor speed is not only controled by apmd daemon; the kernel also controls the speed... you see 312MHz even if u use a 416-416-416 apmd for that reason.
Dimichxp compiled a kernel a some months ago, wich gives full speed control to apmd daemon, it's on e2mod (http://www.e2mod.com/content/view/220/26/). Sadly, it has a bug when you take pics with the camera... So I guess we'll need to compile our own custom kernel. There's a guide to achieve this @it168. It's a pain in the ass to find a thread there, but I'll check the forum and tell ya later... (^_^)

@zjole: I would be glad of helping you with the apmd changer, but I don't need an apmd builder on my rokr, only an apmd switcher... I made one a couple months ago ;) I can work on it if you want. would be fun to put .apmd extensions on apmd files and associate them to this app... so you can pick it on your file manager to test it on your rokr, so you must run the app to make the apmd be mounted during boot time.... ¿what do you think?  (n_n)

@arctu:
About mplayer mounting... it's also a good idea. Keaglez should add a check+mount for /mmc/mmca1/.system/mplayer (or some similar path) to "replace" mplayer binary with ease. We shouldn't mount on my_favor, mplayer is kinda big and would fill our phone memory (X_x)
offtopic: may you post your font? i like it... want it sooo bad (*_*)

ADDED:
Got the link.
There's an index to the main threads on 3d's forum... (http://64.233.179.104/translate_c?&u=http://moto.it168.com/viewthread.php%3Ftid%3D120870%26extra%3Dpage%253D1)

@Taurnil
Ah, I get it now... I missed a point.. no wonder... Really, thank you for all the info.. (esp. the kernel compiling)
Yeah, I think you should make the APMD changer.. After much consideration, I thought it would be best to make it a "changer".. I'll label it as "expert-only" so the new users would understand that it requires some knowledge for use. The file association idea is brilliant.. I will do it for fonts too.. (;

Offtopic: I'll post up the font later

@pizzadox
Yup, I agree too.

@arctu
I knew you would get some ideas from e2mplayer.:)
And you know why I was talking about the apmd and kernel issue,right?(Thanks Taurnil for the clearer explanation.)Anyway,OC still works with the OY3 kernel,just not so perfectly.

@Taurnil
I don't need a apmd builder either.(I even don't use OC)I think your idea of associating apmd is great.Then we don't need to leave space for predefined apmds.Would mind working on it?You know,I really suck at scripting(even had some trouble making the apmd changer working properly at first :().I guess I should just be the firmware maker. :P

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: arctu on February 07, 2008, 12:09:27 am
@zjole
Yup, after I tested things out and Taurnil clear explanations.. I get what you meant. (; Yeah, OC works just not perfect. So now, the question is, do we really need another kernel? Because, I fear that if APMD totally controls the speed, battery life would be an issue.

You are a good FW maker.. no worries. (;

@Taurnil
For the APMD Changer here is what you should do:

Clicking *.apmd will pop up menu:
1. Use APMD
2. Auto Start This APMD

No. 1 will simply OC the phone. No. 2 will copy the apmd to /ezxlocal/.system/apmd and will autorun at startup. You need not worry about the autorun for now since we are using a different system of autorun... Just leave a spot so that autorun can be integrated easier later when the APMD changer is working perfectly. So, it runs down to:

1. Click *.apmd
2. showRadio: 1. Use APMD; 2. Use APMD as Default
3. Clicking 1 will do the command to use the APMD
4. Clicking 2 will copy the apmd to /ezxlocal/.system/apmd

That's all you need to do. (: I'm sure you can accomplish that...

Hmm.. I wonder where is keaglez, celebrating Chinese New Year perhaps? hehe..

I think the current kernel is all right.
I suggest restore the default(stock) apmd and let the user to decide whether to enable the not so perfect OC or not later on.:)

Ah... My internet connection was down yesterday, encountered some life problem, taking a time for autorun.lin but an error reported there (i havent found the error), argg... Because my mood wasnt good, I delayed checking the script... :(

Btw during the making of autorun.lin yesterday, I thinking of a better autorun script, more efficient I think, should be faster even for a second only... :) I will need to update them all, including the Autorun Manager and all the autorun scripts...

Oh, that looks cool arctu...especially the font changer... Hehe... There is "loading" everywhere... :) For the apmd, it will be wonderful if it can be fixed... Take a look for sensor (http://keaglez.e2mod.com/project/files/sensor_20080204.tar.gz), while it runs, the apmd drop to 312mhz... (i use 208/416/624) :( I wonder why...

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: arctu on February 07, 2008, 02:59:26 am
@keaglez
Hello! Haha.. you're not chinese eh? I thought you are celebrating CNY... hehs.. Hmm, what you mean by "better"? Care to share? (:

Oh, well, "loading" is everywhere... I kinda like it that way as the phone seems more "responsive".. You know, when I clicked email last time... I thought.. "wtf happened?".. it was a few seconds later that I know the thing is actually "loading"...

Btw.. actually.. the command line "autorun" is very simple... What I want you to is just that..

When I run in terminal/console/telnet:
autorun activate "Swap_File"

the autorun script above will check for "Swap_File.lin" in the corresponding folder and if available, add the autorun to autorun.txt. "deactivate" will just do the opposite. (: I wonder if you are doing different thing instead... haha..

@zjole
I agree totally. (:

Do you know which files kaleidoscope replaces? Or maybe.. you want to create the "KaleiDEactivate" script yourself? (It's somewhat just a mount --bind and refresh script..)

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: keaglez on February 07, 2008, 03:30:28 am
Im working like that for sure... :) Here is what it will do:
autorun.lin -a "Swap File"
>>> It will search for every autorun script and match with the title and add it in autorun.txt
autorun.lin -a swapfile.lin
>>> It will search for the autorun script with that file name and add it in autorun.txt
also: autorun.lin --add "Swap File" (-a and --add are same)
autorun.lin -r "Swap File"
>>> to remove from autorun.txt
autorun.lin --remove swapfile.lin
>> same but match with file name (-r and --remove are same)
autorun.lin -l
autorun.lin --list
>>> list the available autorun script

The new autorun.txt is simplier, maybe like this (i havent tested yet):
Code:
#!/bin/bash
exec_list="swapfile.lin apmd.lin"
for exec in $exec_list
do
/ezxlocal/.system/autorun/${exec} &
done
Maybe faster... :)

Wow.. Cool.. I'm waiting for it... (:

Oh yeah, btw.. your device manager script have a bug. When I run in and then click cancel, it still ask me if I want to unmount. :S

Oh, I think you can name it "autorun" without the .lin. (;

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: keaglez on February 07, 2008, 04:43:52 am
Well, its from showMultiSelect... It return the same result for "cancel" and choose none...they both return nothing... :( or i miss something? ???

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: arctu on February 07, 2008, 05:25:46 am
Ah.. that make sense.. but.. asking for umount when user click cancel is nonsense.. =p well, theres no other way is there? hehe..

Anyway, I've created the SDEject myself. (; That should lessen the burden on you.
Ah, while making that, I also realise something.. for your device manager, you should add a "careful" feature.. that is.. to disable swap file before unmounting... you can check for swap file with "cat /proc/swaps | grep /mmc/mmca | awk '{print $1}'". If we don't do this, I think unmounting while swap file is still active will freeze the phone.

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: Taurnil on February 07, 2008, 08:14:13 am
OK I'm working on the apmd switcher....
it's pretty simple, as arctu said...
if you select an .apmd file on your file browser, it asks you if you wanna set it temporally or "permanently"... if you open the application directly, it checks if there's a custom apmd mounted, so you can disable it or keep using the custom apmd you have... would be interesting to read inside the apmd binary to know wich frequencies it uses...

ADDED:
I finished a preliminar version. Working on my good ol' apmd switcher spent like 5 minutes  ;D don't have my USB cable right now, so couldn't test it  ??? I'm sure it's buggy.... may someone help me testing it through msn?

@Taurnil
Wow.. good job. (:
I really wish I could test it now.. But I've just finished with PhoneGuard Manager script and I'm now awfully tired.. (spent about 3hrs+ working on it)...

Hope somebody can help test it out.. Oh, Taurnil, if your APMD changer is used, I'll be sure to include your name in rokrCP about screen. hehe..

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware

I see... Thats why the mmc/mmca1 cant be umounted in my past script... :)

ADDED:
Btw the autorun almost finished... The "add" and "list" are worked now... The rest only to add "remove", then add more error checking, and done... :) Once autorun finished, the Autorun Manager will be updated asap... :) Today...should be ready... ;D Btw i spend about 2 hours...well...not a full working... I make it during watching TV and browsing... LOL

Title: DONE! I'm gonna tatoo this date on my ass... damn lucky boy!!!

OK, big fat thanks to fedegil69 for helping me testing the switch script.
Looks like I'm damn lucky today, the script worked smoothly...
I'll attach it here... it's not useful if you don't know how to use it, and is only useable through telnet... so it's ok ;)
I would like to hear more opinions or testing results...

Added:
If you want, I can move on to "setTimeouts" script since it's available ;)
I made an improved version of this script wich shows the actual setting in showRadio menu. It's already done ;D. Sadly I don't have it right now, but I can find it!
I wish I could help ya with bigger scripts or even apps, but as u know, I do this stuff @ office...
It's late here, see ya tomorrow.

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: arctu on February 07, 2008, 09:10:47 pm
@Taurnil
Cool, I haven't tested it out with APMD yet. But I know how it works by looking at the script... You read my mind.. Hehe.. (:

Hmm.. You want improvements? Then, I'll let you improvise it:
When run without arguments, (as you have made it), instead of just asking the user if he wants to use the default APMD, create a showRadio with a list of APMDs from /ezxlocal/.system/apmd/. Then, when selected, the apmd will be changed.. Complicated enough? Well, if not, then make it so that everytime a person clicked on a .apmd, the script remembers the location and instead of the above, display a list of "remembered" apmds...

Oh, btw, when you associate the APMDs, the .apmd filename is on $2 not $1...

EDIT:
@zjole
I was thinking, maybe we should just scrapped the idea of integrating Rockbox and QPlayer.. what do you think? (They're too large right?)

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware

@arctu, dont forget to add 7z support (use 7zr binary, its available in The One firmware) and add it in your ROKR GUI... :)

Btw im in last check of the autorun...add, remove, list, all works now! ;D

ah.. I thought very little of people uses 7z.. Oh well, I'll add it.. (:
waiting for your autorun.. hehe..

@zjole
I've just take a look at The One Beta 2 firmware.. I think linking would be fine but if we're doing it.. we will only do it on CG34.. (The One Beta 2 uses CG31 for the space.. very ugly)

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware

hey, why does the autorun manager uses underscores instead of whitespaces to show the startup options? :S
How to do it? I generate the list from autorun script and showMultiSelect  regconize the whitespace as different function... I try to use quotes but cant work... :(

Yo, keaglez, I forgot to give ya the solution to your whitespaces issue... here's how I could list the apmd files in /ezxlocal/.system/apmd, even if the files have whitespaces on its names (i'll fix hidefolders soon with this code)

Quote
   alias ls='ls' # removes colors and symbols
   ls -1 /ezxlocal/.system/apmd/|sed s:.apmd$::g > /tmp/apmd.lst
   lista='showRadio "APMD List" "Choose an APMD:" '
   n=1;
   # Creates apmd list ;)   WHITESPACESPROOF!!!! XD
   while [ "`sed -n "$n"p /tmp/apmd.lst`" ]; do
   {
      lista=$lista" \"`sed -n "$n"p /tmp/apmd.lst`\" ";
      n=$[n+1];
   }
   done

piece of cake B)

Oh...nice script...but i have got a simplier one before by arctu...using eval... Like this:
Quote
declare -a script_file
declare -a script_title
a=0
list_script=""
for script in /ezxlocal/.system/autorun/*.lin
do
let "a++"
script=`basename $script`
script_file[$a]="$script"
script_title[$a]=`cat /ezxlocal/.system/autorun/${script}|grep 'title='|sed 's/title=//'|sed 's/\"//g'`
list_script="$list_script \"${script_title[a]}\""
done
menu="showRadio \"Delete\" \"Select autorun to delete:\" $list_script"
menu=`eval "$menu"`
Above is the delete list from my Autorun Manager... :)

Btw thanks a lot... ;D

Hi,arctu.
kaleidoscope replaced am,phone and some related libs(libezxam.so.1.0.0,libezxrichedit.so.1.0.0,libezxappbase.so.1.0.0,libezxaid.so.1.0.0).ilove3d figured this out by md5sum compares.

There should be enough space in cg34 for qplayer and rockbox.I'll remove a lot of the ringtones and pics.

The One takes every piece of space available.The font is very small and there's much space left in cg41.So whitemoto put the 7z binary(it's a little large) there.

I'll make another firmware myself,intergrating rockbox and qplayer to see if there's enough space.:)

@Taurnil & Keaglez
Nice jobs.Don't working too hard.;)

K guys, I've been thinkin'bout apmd switcher and this is the main idea I've got:

*If you open the applications without arguments (menu)*
   Main Menu:
   * View APMD list
       List of APMD files in /ezxlocal/.system/apmds
       If you choose any of the apmd listed:
          Main function:
             - Test APMD  (mount apmd and apply the changes. That's all)
             - Use permanently
                       copy apmd file to /ezxlocal/.system/apmd (mounted during boottime thanks to keaglez :))
                       mount apmd and apply the changes

   * Disable custom APMD
      - Switch to stock APMD temporally
      - Disable custom APMD and come back to stock APMD....

*If you click an .apmd file from file manager:*
          Main function:
             - Test APMD  (...)
             - Use permanently
                (...)
                Additional Question: ¿Do you want to add this apmd to your apmd list?
                        If yes, -> copy the apmd file to /ezxlocal/.system/apmds
                            showQ ¿Do you want to rename it?
                            If yes -> showTextEntry..., mv

Still I'm fighting against the brightness bug when you restart apmd daemon....
This way I can divide the app into small functions... what do you think?

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: arctu on February 09, 2008, 09:07:27 am
@zjole
Can you provide me the original unmodifed binaries that kaleidoscope replaces? (I mean, the one in the original firmware before kaleid replace)

@keaglez
Please wait... Currently, I'm trying to integrate a regex checker in it so it will be faster to check validity of input compare to using just scripts and running the showSingleCapture again after script validates it..

@Taurnil
I will give you the link keaglez's autorun manager just for this purpose. But please do not leak it.. (;
Your idea is good and just what I needed in e2Revival. (;
As for the brightness bug, what exactly is the problem? If it is just about brightness too bright and display won't timeout, I think I can create a fix in C++... As in, after it apmd restarts, sleep for 1s or 2s then run the fix.. You think that would do it?

OK I got the files, I'll check em...
About the brightness bug, lemme try by myself first...  :P

4 hours later...
ok, I got something...

1: When you start the app w/o arguments. It detects if you're NOT using a custom APMD, it shows you the apmd list in /ezxlocal/.system/apmds.
(http://www.screenshots.cc/view_thumb/de4601444/1.png) (http://www.screenshots.cc/view_image/de4601444/1.png)

2: If you start the app w/o arguments but you're using a custom APMD, gives another screen:
(http://www.screenshots.cc/view_thumb/3e6101419/3.png) (http://www.screenshots.cc/view_image/3e6101419/3.png)

3: When you pick an apmd "known", from your apmd list in /ezxlocal/.system/apmds)
(http://www.screenshots.cc/view_thumb/d18ef1414/2.png) (http://www.screenshots.cc/view_image/d18ef1414/2.png)

4: When you start the app from file manager (picking an .apmd file), it gives you less options since you're not using an apmd from your apmd 'favorites' list ;)
(http://www.screenshots.cc/view_thumb/3dc551420/4.png) (http://www.screenshots.cc/view_image/3dc551420/4.png)

5: If you choose set an 'unknown' apmd from file manager, it allows you to add it
(http://www.screenshots.cc/view_thumb/d2e8b1412/5.png) (http://www.screenshots.cc/view_image/d2e8b1412/5.png)

6: Giving to it a new name if you want:
(http://www.screenshots.cc/view_thumb/e3a8e1457/6.png) (http://www.screenshots.cc/view_image/e3a8e1457/6.png)

7: Whatever, you can rename it once you added the apmd to your list... ;)
(http://www.screenshots.cc/view_thumb/685881425/7.png) (http://www.screenshots.cc/view_image/685881425/7.png)

I'll check the brightness bug later... I'll PM the script link to arctu ^^

Hi arctu.
I'll send you the original binaries later.I'm a little busy these days.(celebrating the chinese spring festival,visiting relatives...Didn't you know I'm chinese?hehe...)
@Taurnil
The backlight bug of apmd changer is caused by kill and restart  of the apmd daemon right?
@Rauna
I'm afraid the Gnome skin isn't fast enough.:(
Anyway,you can help us make boot logo and poweron/poweroff screens.:)

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: arctu on February 12, 2008, 06:28:50 am
@Rauna
Thanks for the wallpaper... Though, what we need is the bootscreen, power up and power down.. Maybe you can edit the OnlyYou gifs and give it a red tint. And ofcourse, remove the motovn thingy..

@keaglez, Taurnil
I've finalized the common show* binaries... What left to be done is showProgress, showColorPicker, showDatePicker, showTimePicker. I guess those are the uncommon ones.. Well, showProgress will be something a little bit different and will not be backwards compatible..

Backwards compatible binaries: showEntry(showTextEntry), showMultiSelect, showNumPicker, showQ, showNotify, showList(showRadio).

After I'm done with the "left-overs", I'll send you guys the complete set for bug-hunting. Just a note, showList have changed quite a bit compared to the last one I gave you. (The options menu is cool isn't it? (: )

Ciao~

EDIT:
@keaglez
Taurnil should have sent u the final binaries... (he's like "part of the team" lately.. haha..)

Title: Re: [Recruiting People] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: Taurnil on February 12, 2008, 07:10:53 am
hey guys I found something would be great to add, a dosfsck utility precompiled for arm processors... it's here (http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/pdaxrom/download/r198/c1000-c3x00/feed/dosfstools_2.11_armv5tel.ipk).
With this utility we could check the state of our FAT partition and even repair it, just like chkdsk in windows. It only works on console, so a native application wich communicates with the process, adding interactivity, is needed... what do you think? would be great fixing our SD card using our rokr...

I'll update apmd changer with the new binaries... :D

added: keaglez, I sent you the bins... and please, use msn, dude (u don't need a hotmail account for that)

sorry to be late,
but I'd really like to be a beta tester... ;)

PS. about the camera,I have an idea:
    what if we take z6 firmware and replace the voice button with the camera button
    (that means we'll have no voice button)(I just access it from my s9... :) :) :)),
    btw z6 and e2 are alike...

    and the music button, why don't we make a "shortcut" program to remember shortcuts
    like the kalid firmware then we can access anything we want and not quit any process
    (like short will be ok, long will be shortcut to media player,taskmgr or anything you want... like SE's symbian)
     :) :) :) :)
    i think im crazy...

Sorry for the late reply. I'm busy with school.

http://www.mediafire.com/?d0jjeswrj5m
Here's my MODIFIED Gnome skin. Basically, most modifications is done for optimization. Result: It works fast at my e2Revival prototype.

So, the challenge is, change the icons to something nicer? Maybe KDE4 oxygen icons would work? Besides, currently, some icons does not corresponds to the correct function. Oh yes, and maybe you want edit some cosmetics to what you think would look nice. ( ;

Hope you people can come up to something. =)

Hey guys! Can you add show-modules and ilove3d kernel with multikeypress function to this monster? And can you do something, that video in zpmplayer will plays without lugs?

Title: Re: [WIP] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: Taurnil on March 17, 2008, 09:24:55 am
lags in videos depends more on the vids characteristics. If you try to play a VGA video (640x480) obviously you'll get skips and lags.   And, zmplayer and qplayer are only frontends, the real player is mplayer process.

Show** and multipress are already in the MP, AFAIK.

having problems with Vista. =="
and my linux vm doesn't seemed to want to connect to my phone correctly too.
installing xp on vmware right now..

meanwhile.. for those who wants to continue my work on getting samba 2 to work on vista.. here's what i currently have..
1. You must set Network Authentication to Send both NTLM and LM. I forgot where the settings is.
2. Then, go to \\192.168.16.2\system
3. It works, but read-only. *sigh*
4. Anyone found a solution.

@tomii

yours looks nice.good job!

but i guess you use lots of png icons right?In order to make the skin fast,bmp is the best choice.
if you've ever extracted the stock iconres.ezx,you'll find that most of the icons are bmp.;)

i don´t know that, your saying that it may be a better skin if it made with bmp?

he said it will be faster if you use bmp icon instead of png. png icon only slowing down phone.

hahas.. I am indeed looking for people to take over the development. ^^.
my dream is to unite the e2 modding community.. meaning.. most probably 3-D and Mati77 will have to work together.. Can you guys do that?

meanwhile.. I'm checking out blackstorm for stability and speed.

At me it is a lot of ideas, but it is not enough time because of entrance examinations. Very much I want unite with you.

How to me with you personally to communicate(icq or private)?

hmm.. posted my comments on BlackStorm thread..
erm.. i can communicate only through MSN.
hmm, one last thing.. before I can leave the development to someone else, I'll have to consult zjole first. ;D

Can we sample some of the features here in little pieces? Like the Messaging Bug fix? Can we please try it on while the development of this firmware will take more time? Please?  :)

Btw, the MAXX menu (menu that opens when VR button is pressed) is really a great feature. Saves time because important functions are easily accessible. Hope you guys can implement that in this firmware.

Arctu, please (for the meantime) release the Messaging Bug fix. :) Thank you!

What is a messaging bug?

Title: Re: [WIP] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: keaglez on June 09, 2008, 02:02:22 am
It happens while messages didn't run at startup, or actually it crashed... That makes all message cant be received and we need to start it manually... arctu have made the fix now... :)

Title: Re: [WIP] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: BlinK_ on June 09, 2008, 02:54:10 am
I have never had that bug.

Title: Re: [WIP] e2Revival Firmware
Post by: u4ia24 on June 09, 2008, 03:02:31 am
The bug happens when you start up the phone and you don't open the Messages menu right away. If you leave the phone after booting and not open the Messages menu, the messages stored on the phone will not be read at all and new messages wont show up. You must go to the Messages menu so the phone will open your messages and receive new ones.

I think the bug only appears to those who store a lot of messages in the phone memory and to those who doesn't turn off the phone properly causing a corrupt message database that must be repaired by the phone.

Hope arctu can post his fix. So that the people experiencing the bug can at least repair the problem while waiting for the finished firmware. :)

ilove3d put it in /etc/init.d/rc2.d/
if you want to replace it.. you need to use mount --bind in first.txt.

Boy, there's a lot to read in this thread!

Is there any way in this brilliant sounding f/w to do something about the really bad battery life of the E2? I get about three days standby and about 10 minutes if I use BT!! Don't know if this is normal or a flash to far! but then again it never was great.
