So, it is not necessary to be a genius to copy binaries from one fw to another. Try to develop it yourself.

nobody steals from nobody - we are doing an opensource community aren't we? You developed the things - that's great... why don't give them to another developers to use or even extend them?

That stupid Chine VS Russia war is disgusting and ugly. That's a kid play and it is more destructive than constructive

Finally my position is that I prefer to share the binaries that way - we are helping users to use the best firmware, based on their taste and not based on somebody elses hate

Please, don't make war here. We have to stick together. No license in this FW.It's an opensource so we have to share each other. No one steal it.We are not using Symbian. It's a Linux. It's free.Remember "United We Stand".If we keep making war, then this project won't finish. So,let's stick together to make the best for Linux development.

You say linux, free? No, e2 has no freedom. Everything except kernel and some system tools is proprietary, Motorola reinvents the wheel in their developments, they suck that way. It is not freedom, not opensource. Please don't teach me what freedom, linux, opensource means. I know it at least not worse than you all. And i won't say anything against distributing the binaries, i only wanted to let user test developments in consistent enviroment where i can debug and fix bugs. With this "awesome" development, which is the subject of discussion, i can not do that. Dixi.

Title: Re: Implementing the "Kaleidoscope functions" into ROKR Ultimate
Post by: arctu on September 16, 2007, 11:40:16 pm
yup. agreed with hobbit19. Motorola "opensource" is only abt the kernel and system binaries. Motorola didn't even relase the QT SDK. :S.

Even though he got a bad attitude(which seems to be the same for most russian developer), you guys gotta live with it. Respect the developer's wish.

And yeah, who actually created the Replace script? There's not even a single credit.

ALL that because of one thing requested by Russians, I think we should all co-operate and before take any thing we should ask for it or at least make a notice for copy rights.
I think that's what Russians mean and I also think that Chinese are good people and able to do that, then there's nothing to make us apart, as we should be one hand to raise with our E2.

Hi, I'm from M3 (ModmyMoto) and there the guys were all sad that this happened.
The attitude is bitter, the critics are answered with violence.

Say what you say, but ilove3d made things a lot easier for the newbies like me. I've never had to connect to samba to make anything to work with Ultimate. I have been using show apps for all my needs (I upgraded to Ultimate from 48+41p JUST FOR THE SHOW**).

I've read that Taurnil has a script to load the SHOW** libraries to any fw, but it didn't work so far (at least not with 48+41p)

Title: Re: Implementing the "Kaleidoscope functions" into ROKR Ultimate
Post by: Exploited on September 18, 2007, 12:41:37 am
I 100% agree with ilove3d and I am standing behind him. He is the only person who never hide source code or disallow somebody to use his developements. Plus, so far Ultimate + the patch is the best firmware seen on the scene.

Now the people in Russia, who was the complainers against the hidden sources of asmotoe2, now are doing the same. Sad but true

I will not close this thread, because it's a good one - it is a presentation of how the egoism of a small group of people can deny many others from using innovative developments. Now we have hundreds guys that will not use the new functions, just because somebody do not want to share...

Finally I hope that you will get a license for your developements and be very rich by selling it. Good luck. Unfortunately I will not join you in that campaign, because it's against my upbringing and practice

P.S. Do not use abusive words ever again, no matter in Russian, English or Esperanto language, because it is showing bad manners and do not represent you as a normal human from IT community like this. You do not deserve a ban, but an international lawsuit!!!

1) MotoE2 - not opensource!
2) iLove3D, In my post I said  that you are ....... bad human!
3) Phill, We have a misunderstanding, we have to share, but must comply with respect to the author! All that was needed to tell by whom, and how the product was created and before distribute it - ask permission from the creators! We do not want war, that you has begun it!

4) Respect for others' work - is what you lack, brothers!

Did you asked for permission from Motorola to use their binaries? I think that ends the discussion

Anyway sure - I do appologise if I did something wrong. However both the MP and the patch files will not appear for download on my server to the public until I see the reverse reaction on the other side.

And finally - who the HELL is the creator? Any README in the archive? Anything on motofan.ru about it? Tricky huh, isn't it?

Title: Re: Implementing the "Kaleidoscope functions" into ROKR Ultimate
Post by: error398 on September 18, 2007, 09:41:08 pm
hmm.. you're right phill, i didnt mention that the creator must be ask the permission from Motorola.. hmm so why they need to defend what he do..

For generally, he did not ask the permission from Motorola company to modified their binaries code.. so it should be end..

for kaleisdoscope developers. dont blame some one if u are an incomplete too.

Nope. I bought it with my phone and ain't gonna ask somebody to use things that i paid for.

I have nothing to fear, and gladly would say what I think about iLove3D looking him straight in the eye!

¡No tengo nada temer, y diría alegre lo que pienso de iLove3D que lo mira derecho en el ojo!
Je n'ai rien à craindre, et heureusement dirais ce que je pense à iLove3D le regardant directement dans l'oeil !

I still think iLove3D ugly! He became the first to offend kaleidoscope developers, my friends, thereby hurting me!

Are you one of the developers?
Who are you to say that ilove3d is a noob?
Who are you to say that ilove3d is a bad human?
Who are you to say that ilove3d are a noob & lies?

If you are not one of the developers, then just F**K OFF and get out of here! I personally DO NOT welcome you....
If you are one of the developers, why did you let people download your work when you do not want others to share it?

Lets make e2 better TOGETHER?? You sure you are able to do it TOGETHER?!?! I feel that many people already have a bad impression of you and they won't want to work with you....

Consider changing your attitude and language used....

PS: this is english ;D

So, read your crap about some "war" or whatever. Is it any war here? There is just "religious" conflict: for example i don't think that show bins are requiried and useful, you say they are. But i will never agree with you, whatever you say because i have seen results in programming using this fcking shows - nothing good is released. Another thing is political - you say e2 opensource, i say it is not. It is obvious that i am right. Where i can download a source of e2 software? Nowhere. Consequently i can't give you any source even if i wanted to do. I don't see anyone against distributing binaries. But what matters that you made all this fuss instead of "making e2 better together".

Post by: GeozTsai on September 19, 2007, 03:37:28 am
I agree with sjj,I prefer a "better attidude motohell zone".
If there's war here,I dont think it would be good for any1.
It really doesn't matter developer or newbie,I think it matters the most of the attidude we share things together.
Stop war and start modding our moto .
Let's all help more people here, not making more people mad.
pls
Is there really a meaning if we war?
I hope to mod with all modders, not to fight with them.
Look at who helped people and who didn't.
I beleive it matters more to the people who needs help than us.
 ;)

Ps.
Maybe e2 isn't opensource,but does it matter?
We can make e2 opensource @ motohell!
Why not?!

sjj, you can read? Now? Buy glasses! I did not say that iLove3D noob and lier! I just said that hi is stupid! Why? Coz he first begin to say, that we, russian, sucks... That was his mistake! And I don`t warry about the war, you know why? coz we russian can develope some with out your help! And you can do the same! but, if we do something together - that will be more useful to our moto! You don`t want it? Ok! All what we want`s - to say that we develope that software  and our name have to be there! Not name of Expoitet coz he post! WE NEED MORE RESPECT! Why? COZ our FW - is revolutionary fw for all E2 Monsters! Where thanx`s? Where? Or it`s difficult to say "thanks"? Or what?

Try to be more thankful and let`s work together!

for examlpe, all FW what produse iLove3D have his name on! We called our FW Kaleidoscope, but not name`s of creator! Not russian has egoism but you are!

Respect us and we WILL respect you!

Before we had a chance to say thanks, the download link had to be removed from e2mod, and ilove3d was disallowed to make the patch for ROKR Ultimate.... If we can't try the new features on our phones, how can we say thanks? And remember that this is a beta release with several bugs....

And how would I know if you had made multiple accounts here to scold people?

Chinese for the Show* Binaries which means SuperRabit and SNES Emulator and Russians for the kool new features...

if both of these combines to 1 fw damn it'll be the best fw for e2!!  ;D ;D ;D
SNES Emulator does not need show binaries in firmware

1. Noob or not - people like ROKR Ultimate and use it. That means that ilove3d deserves respect for his efforts to make it. End of this topic

2. Any further affront (offence) against another user in the forum will end up with ban. I do not want to see such people around

3. Thanks to crz and all other members that cleared the situation and shaked hands

4. I will still not repost the download links, until everybody join the procedure from point 3.

Guys, thanks to all of you (ilove3d, hobbit, katze, to name a few of the most famous) the E2 is transforming into a platform that's not only easy to deploy to, but user-friendly and really powerful. Everyday the ROKR gets more features, and that's something I'd never imagined when I bought it. I feel thankful for loosing my former Samsung D836 (the opposite of modding, THAT was hermetic) and using the ensurance to buy this hell-o-moto.
I was loosing my faith in motorola (the last good headset i remembered was the c650, hated the razr), but now it's restored!!

Hope one day, ilove3d joins Katze and hobbit to bring a fast (katze), easy to mod (ilove3d) and über featured (hobbit)

Well, this is my first reply here. I can't understand why are russians offending iLove3d, when he improved EVERYTHING on our Rokrs... and he did not took an attitude of selling his FW's!!! Why can't we join to improve our E2'S??? We cant fight because a reduced group of people wants to take ALL the credit :(!!! I just say: lets take off our egos and work together!!! And well, certainly i have to say that i am with iLove3d, bcoz thanks to him I made my first flashing!!! Thanks to him FW's like Katze have been working and they have developed themselves :)... i hope nobody takes this attitude as offensive... i just wanna say what i think.
Congratulations to iLove3d, Katze and hoobit.  ;)

Hi

Can anyone tell me step by step how to add this to autorun on Ultimate. I searched for first.txt but i didnt find anything. So i looked for autorun.txt found 2, one backup made with wall changer, and the other i guess its whats system uses, because first line i see replace of wall changer...  so i add the .sh to autorun, saved, reboot, but i cant get kaleidoscope on autorun...

So. I apreciate if some good soul help me

Cheers =)

Well, you can modify the replace.sh then delete any show line and refresh line... So left it just 'mount' line... After that modify the autorun.txt and add line like this

if [ -f directory/replace.sh ]
then
directory/replace.sh
fi

directory means the directory where you put the replace.sh and all needed files. Restart, startup will longer and maybe you cant hear the startup sound (sometime can). Hope this help... ;D

It's a simple job but i don´t know how to do it in linux.
How to create an icon (or line) in one of the menus to call and execute "replace.sh" just like applications mkpg and java do...
