Title: Standarisation Folder Post by: pizzadox619 on August 11, 2007, 09:37:54 am 1) Default "Application Data" folder
I have idea (especially for e2 scripter) to move all apps data to 1 folder in the future apps.. See example above: Snapshot : /mmc/mmc1/snapshot/ ----> /mmc/mmc1AppData/snapshot/ Apps Backup : /mmc/mmca1/AppsBackup_*.tar ---> /mmc/mmca1/AppData/AppsBackupAppsBackup_*.tar UBackup : /mmc/mmca1/*.ubackup ---> /mmc/mmca1/AppData/UBackup*.tar Calls blacklist and whitelist: /mmc/mmca1/blackno.txt ----> /mmc/mmca1/AppData/blackno.txt Application : /mmc/mmca1/AppData/AppName/*.* 2) Default Skin folder for SD themes (*.chm) links skin to SD: /mmc/mmca1/skin/skin name so the theme maker can make *.mtf / *.skin.zip / *.rar.gz which links skin to 1 folder (like z6 skin) Edited: - Topic Title - Application Data --> AppData. I forgot this is Linux Title: Re: My idea Post by: aTsEtOn on August 11, 2007, 11:16:45 am It's good idea... E2 needs in standartisation! it's like 'Program files' in Windows... Sry my English)
Title: Re: My idea Post by: Taurnil on August 11, 2007, 06:14:04 pm Standarize our application data it's a GREAT idea.
But I would like to HIDE this folder, I don't wanna remove it accidentally. I propose to use /mmc/mmc1/.system/AppData/ as application data folder, because: 1. It's hidden and safer for newbies. Anyways, we can make a AppData Manager 2. We aren't used to use spaces between our folder names because... our lazyness xD (have you seen that there's NO ONE folder in your ROKR E2 folder tree with spaces in their names? avoid the using of whitespaces It's almost a standard in linux systems) Standarize our skins in SD card is a good idea too. But I would like to HIDE them inside of .system folder, so we would have /mmc/mmc1/.system/Skins/ as base folder... We could write a paper and use it as a standard for E2 scripters, so you could say "This mpkg is compliant to E2 Scripting Tips v.01" xD All the mpkgs i've tested lately put hidden or visible files everywhere and that's damn annoying. We must design a standard. my 0.02 ;) Title: Re: Standarisation Folder Post by: keaglez on August 12, 2007, 01:22:49 am Yes, it's a great idea.. And yes, hide the folder also nice.. But i think skin folder must be visible.. I like to add skin on the air, so i can easily unpack and copy the skin path...

It's a frozen proyect I stopped from working because of my lack of time :( If I finish the skin manager, we can hide the skin folder ;) what do you think? lets wait for more opinions :) Title: Re: Standarisation Folder Post by: keaglez on August 13, 2007, 01:35:01 am I could work in a skin manager.
