it use kernel 2.6.
now E680i only have 2.4.
but some OS like Openmoko could ran  @ E680i by installing kernel @SD/MMC. ???

Cool! This os need touchscreen, right? So it won't be able to run with E2.. Except, we can create mouse cursor in our E2.. (just like unix app)
