hi guys. im new to the thread.. after 2yrs of having the E1 phone finally i came across to this forums. thank God!

i really want to learn on how to mod the E1, i really dont have any idea doing it. can you guys help me?
is this like customizing the skin?? what more it gives when you mod the e1?
(oh.. so many questions in may head right now..)
 
i only have the usb cable and the phone itself.

Ahoy! Welcome to the forum :)

Why do those videos stir you up? :D You like what you see? It's simple, simple, simple!

The way to getting your phone to look, feel and work like on those videos is done in just a couple of clicks :)

First, I need you to do something. Turn off your phone. Now press and hold *, # and RED button. Wait until "bootloader" shows up. When it does - write here all the stuff you see on screen? Don't be nervous, maybe you won't hit it the first time. And don't worry, it's nothing dangerous! After that I can tell you the next steps :)

Okay, you're good to go :)

You need RSD Lite, a piece of PC software by Motorola, for flashing your phone. You'll have to googe for it, since we can't share warez here. Get the latest version you find! (I've got v4.5.7 ;) )

After getting it, you should backup all your stuff. Everything that is in phones memory will be gone after flashing! You will need Flash&Backup 3.0.7 to completely backup your phone's software. You will need that in case your phone "dies".


You can check the MonsterPacks section now, to find something you want to flash on your E1 :) You need to get the "E1" version (or "0A.02 version") not the E398 (07.D0 version)!

I have to recommend you some older, legendary MP's! After them, feel free to flash anything new :D First, Revolution v4, by Bodyguard! One of 2 best MPs ever for me :) See Revolution v4 here - http://www.e398mod.com/content/view/103/30/

Those are 2 old MP's that I loved the most :) (I've been into E398 modding for almost 6 years now) They are old, but they've got heart and they've got soul! New mp's have much more features, but I think you will be stunned by those two, since you never modded your phone...


If something is confusing you, please ask! Better safe than sorry ;) You can find some guides on the forums... Just ask anything about where you get stuck ;)

Anyway, everything you see here - http://modmymobile.com/forums/7-e398-i398-rokr/240-back-black-mp-v1-0-a.html - is a part of one monster pack :) That in 2nd screenshot is just one of the skin it has ;)

Have you made a FULL backup with Flash&Backup? Open the program, go to "Read data" tab (just click "Select all code groups" and click "Read data" button ;) (do not tick "Cut empty bytes at the end of code groups"!)

Before that you should charge your battery to FULL! And after the process charge it again!

Then, guessing you got your monster pack of choice, you should open RSDlite, select it and just click flash... It takes couple of minutes (do NOT touch your phone!) and it will make you nervous, but after that you'll get some nice stuff ;)

Sure there are! That one is old and SIMPLE. That's why I wanted you to try it first...These days everything became pretty complicated on the E398 :D (at least for the beginners, no offending intended!)

You can't if you don't do what ZduneX said, but I really think it's not necessary now! There are plenty of MPs made for E1... Why do you ask?

Sure you can flash, if you already make a backup. Just make sure it has same boot loader.
DAR, Dream A Reality MP. the newest flash file. Take a look at MP's section.

Yup! You can finally mod :)


DAR is short for Dream A Reality. Version 2 adds MANY features, like unlimited video, java over bluetooth, etc... Some stuff we've been waiting for years to be on E398 (or E1)
