Title: Re: Qtopia for E2 Post by: steel00 on August 20, 2008, 06:45:03 pm i dont get it??? i've been watching videos aboute Qtopia is very interisteng but i cant find any difference with any e2 fw... so what's new with this??? we cant use the wi-fi cuz e2 doesn't have the hardware, that sux!!
so again what's the difference between Qtopia and any e2 fw?? Title: Re: Qtopia for E2 Post by: AV3LaR on August 20, 2008, 06:55:37 pm It's a brand new OS, i believe you know what Linux is because of E2 and now, it's like you have a MacOSX computer and you install Linux on it, now you will have Linux apps on your Mac (that's the main porpuse having QTopia apps, which are more than E2)
Title: Re: Qtopia for E2 Post by: steel00 on August 20, 2008, 09:00:45 pm i got that, but still i dont see the difference cuz is like emulating this new OS on the e2 right??? unless somebody could make a fw based on qtopia...
Title: Re: Qtopia for E2 Post by: Exploited on August 21, 2008, 12:20:44 am steel00 - that's not gonna happen :) Still qtopia works pretty well and we must enjoy...
Title: Re: Qtopia for E2 Post by: Taurnil on August 21, 2008, 11:41:30 am Thumbs up for the modders who made it run. Awesome.

Congratulations! Title: Re: Qtopia for E2 Post by: arriagas on August 23, 2008, 12:17:24 pm its easy to intall
put this in a text file .txt #! /bin/bash cp /mmc/mmca1/QFiles5/hwtool /mmc/mmca1 insmod /mmc/mmca1/QFiles5/ext2.o insmod /mmc/mmca1/QFiles5/loop.o mkdir /ezxlocal/Qtopia mkdir /ezxlocal/Qtopia/etc mount -o loop -t ext2 /mmc/mmca1/QFiles5/qtopia.img /ezxlocal/Qtopia cp /mmc/mmca1/QFiles5/defaultbuttons.conf /ezxlocal/Qtopia/etc sh /mmc/mmca1/QFiles5/start.sh then save it on the sd of the rokr anda put the folder of Qtopia (the files of zip) on the sd and rename the .txt file to .lin if the name is hello.txt rename it to hello.lin and run the .lin and the Qtopia will run luck Title: Re: Qtopia for E2 Post by: dwalker on August 23, 2008, 03:37:59 pm Hi, i tested it an works just great, but a really dislike to need a pc to run it, does any body one know why is the font so small when loaded from phone? i made a script to run qtopia from phone and actually it works very well, and also made an mpkg package and works to, the only problem is the mini font, if anybody knows why is this happening it would be very helpfull and the mpkg will be finished, thanx.
@arriagas: does it run ok for you running it from the phone or you have the font problem to? Title: Re: Qtopia for E2 Post by: arriagas on August 23, 2008, 04:15:55 pm i have the font problem too

Title: Re: Qtopia for E2 Post by: AV3LaR on August 23, 2008, 07:16:28 pm I would like some help i saw the bash extract a few post ago, and i said hey i think that can be done on your phone, and this is pretty much want i did, unfortunately i couldn't make it work it just stays with a message saying Tapi server is disconected
Quote #! /bin/bash insmod /mmc/mmca1/ext2.o insmod /mmc/mmca1/loop.o mkdir /ezxlocal/Qtopia/etc mount -o loop -t ext2 /mmc/mmca1/qtopia.img /ezxlocal/Qtopia cp /mmc/mmca1/defaultbuttons.conf /ezxlocal/Qtopia/etc sh /mmc/mmca1/start.sh To use the script you need to have a fodler called Qtopia on your ezxlocal folder. I allways follow the Moto evolution and I can stay quiet whe I saw it... I am testin' it in my E2 now and works so fine... and I do not have font troubles... (MAXX III FW) good work!!! Modders. Title: Re: Qtopia for E2 Post by: winfuk on August 23, 2008, 10:28:30 pm Hi, i tested it an works just great, but a really dislike to need a pc to run it, does any body one know why is the font so small when loaded from phone? i made a script to run qtopia from phone and actually it works very well, and also made an mpkg package and works to, the only problem is the mini font, if anybody knows why is this happening it would be very helpfull and the mpkg will be finished, thanx. @arriagas: does it run ok for you running it from the phone or you have the font problem to? edit /../../Qtopia/etc/default/Trolltech/qpe.conf find [Font] change FontSize[] but this no solve the problem entirely, the text in the menus are stil small, i don't know how to change it, but in the file /../../Qtopia/etc/defaultbuttons.conf play with [Environment] QWS_DISPLAY=LinuxFb:mmWidth43:mmHeight58:0 gook luck cya Title: Re: Qtopia for E2 Post by: dwalker on August 24, 2008, 03:00:02 am well, for those who want the mpkg, here it is, but it still have the font problem, every thing else works well, just put the qtopia files in mmc under a folder named qtopia, install the mpkg, give root permisions an run it, it take a while to start so be pacient.
http://www.4shared.com/file/60246141/181f4c40/qtopia.html (http://www.4shared.com/file/60246141/181f4c40/qtopia.html) I also made a script to run qtopia from ext3 partition (mmca6), is much more fast than running it from flash... give it a try: #!/bin/sh # insmod /mmc/mmca1/qtopia/ext2.o insmod /mmc/mmca1/qtopia/loop.o rm -rf /ezxlocal/Qtopia mkdir /mmc/mmca6/Qtopia mount -o loop -t ext2 /mmc/mmca1/qtopia/qtopia.img /mmc/mmca6/Qtopia ln -s /mmc/mmca6/Qtopia /ezxlocal/Qtopia cp /mmc/mmca1/qtopia/defaultbuttons.conf /mmc/mmca6/Qtopia cp -f /mmc/mmca1/qtopia/hwtool /mmc/mmca1/ sh /mmc/mmca1/qtopia/start.sh this script need qtopia files to be in qtopia folder on mmc, i recommend to run it from telnet. it only will work if your firmware hava a link to ext3 partition in /mmc/mmca6 (i use ezine 2 but a guess in blackstorm is the same). Title: Re: Qtopia for E2 Post by: arctu on August 24, 2008, 03:30:38 am hmm, none of u experiencing speed issue? It's damn slow for me. Slower than E2's default interface. And thats with overclock and 64MB swap.
Title: Re: Qtopia for E2 Post by: dwalker on August 24, 2008, 03:57:44 am yes, is kind of slow, bu running it from ext3 partition it run very well
Title: Re: Qtopia for E2 Post by: dwalker on August 24, 2008, 06:16:33 am sorry for repost but... I did it!!!! i managed to run qtopia from phone with normal size font and icons, with this fix now we can run it with my mpkg (or any other script) without a computer.
The trick is very simple, just paste this line: export QWS_DISPLAY="LinuxFb:mmWidth43:mmHeight58:0" in the file start.sh, just under the line: export HOME=/ezxlocal/root and its all, now it will work well from phone. you can play with the values, lower values bigger icons and fonts.... for example export QWS_DISPLAY="LinuxFb:mmWidth35:mmHeight44:0" will bring you bigger icons and fonts. Thanx to winfuk for pointing me to the right direcction ;) P.D. tested with my mpkg and works like a charm. Title: Re: Qtopia for E2 Post by: BlinK_ on August 24, 2008, 06:45:10 am @dwalker, thank you very much. Charging my mobile now, will try after few hours. Karma ++.
Title: Re: Qtopia for E2 Post by: AV3LaR on August 24, 2008, 09:53:17 am Men that's so cool i tested my sh and it ran nice but i had that problem (kind of weird cuz first time fonts were OK) but yours it's much better 8)
And yes it's kind of slow but it's also weird cuz sometimes it just speeds a little more, and i don't know why i'll try to keep testing this noon, hey you stole your little brother's E2??? jaja Title: Re: Qtopia for E2 Post by: arctu on August 24, 2008, 11:48:59 am Hmm.. I'll test it again when some find a way to make it fast and 'usable'. (and when I have time) =D
Eh.. you talking to me...AV3Lar? I didn't steal.. I told him.. "Let me do some experiments on your phone. *evil grin*" and he let me. LOL. Title: Re: Qtopia for E2 Post by: AV3LaR on August 24, 2008, 11:55:02 am LOL yes it's a joke i know your little brother got your super-E2!
