Title: Reply from Motorola Post by: Jithin on November 13, 2007, 08:18:27 am Yesterday I simply mailed Motorola Developer Technical Services asking whether they provide tools for skinning motos. I knew there isn't any,but I just wanted to know will they respond to it. I've also mentioned about the modding sites developing skins. To my surprise, they did respond to me and this was the answer..
"Hi Jithin. I am sorry, we do not support skinning our handsets currently. Therefore we do not supply tools for doing this I am afraid. Best regards, Alex Ralph." They didn't say a single word about modding sites. Just thought of sharing this incident here :) Title: Re: Reply from Motorola Post by: Joka X on November 13, 2007, 10:41:40 am Maybe you should mail them again with only stuff about modding site....see if they will reply....i bet that they won't...
Title: Re: Reply from Motorola Post by: aku46 on November 13, 2007, 11:29:46 am motorola hate modding site rite?
i don understand why they not build a real great phone that doesn't need to be mod. Title: Re: Reply from Motorola Post by: BruceLee on November 13, 2007, 12:07:36 pm if there would be a perfect phone designed by motorola... and let's say everyone would be pleased... after a couple of years some other phone models will appear better than the "perfect" one and people like me and you will want better performance or better software... and guess what... for doing that we'll have to mod our phone... so it doesn't matter if now some certain phone model is the best... after a couple of months/years there will be a better one. it's simply technology evolution
Title: Re: Reply from Motorola Post by: Joka X on November 13, 2007, 07:16:38 pm i think we must let Moto realise the important of modding site.....
Title: Re: Reply from Motorola Post by: error398 on November 13, 2007, 07:50:58 pm human never satisfied for his/her phone..
Title: Re: Reply from Motorola Post by: Exploited on November 13, 2007, 11:57:49 pm I don't think they hate modding sites... if they hate us - they will shut us down for no time (they have the power to do that, trust me)... I think that they are "keeping us alive", because we are doing great advertisments for them..
LONG LIVE MOTOROLA :) Title: Re: Reply from Motorola Post by: motomaniacs on November 14, 2007, 12:49:21 am yes but AFAIK motorola didnt give full support to this modding activities
Title: Re: Reply from Motorola Post by: Jithin on November 14, 2007, 06:03:51 am What Phil said is absolutely right I think.. Its due to the modding abilities,we are buying Moto..And motorola knows it. Else, they could have taken legal actions against all modding sites for distributing their proprietary firmwares. Right,Phil?
Title: Re: Reply from Motorola Post by: 3sixthy on November 14, 2007, 08:24:00 am VIVA MOTOROLA.....
WE LOVE U...... Title: Re: Reply from Motorola Post by: darwin_rodgers on November 14, 2007, 03:41:13 pm i had a chance to bbuy a bird complately with the samefeatures as a Peble U6 but the Peble U6 is more expensive..
i prefer to buy the Peble U6 because i can mod it and thats what/why modding influence ppl!!:P Title: Re: Reply from Motorola Post by: Joka X on November 14, 2007, 04:32:39 pm I think what Moto doing now can be described with a chinese phrase:close one eye open one eye(sorry, direct translation)...they just acted like modding site does not exist and do not care what modders are doing...i think Moto could be more supportive, like Google, they made SDK for their new linux platform...Moto realise that modding site are helping them to sell their phone, and they do not dare to shut the modding site down...
Title: Re: Reply from Motorola Post by: sjj on November 14, 2007, 08:57:06 pm Motorola do not support modding...
Title: Re: Reply from Motorola Post by: motomaniacs on November 14, 2007, 10:29:51 pm that's what i said sjj ;)
Title: Re: Reply from Motorola Post by: error398 on November 14, 2007, 11:37:35 pm they didnt support modding but they built phone to modding
Title: Re: Reply from Motorola Post by: GeozTsai on November 16, 2007, 08:16:47 am a best reason to mod a phone is simply that motorola doesn't...
that means motorola "will" let us mod... beacuse: we buy phones, we think of phones, we think of what's inside the phone we find out and we start modding... that if we mod, motorola will make more new discoveries, and make them "true"... maybe..................... ;) Title: Re: Reply from Motorola Post by: jsdlzj on December 11, 2007, 05:53:56 am Hahaha let's look at it this way:)
Your warranty is voided if you flash a firmware or skin which is not authorised by Motorola However they still choose to build the ROKR series based on Linux, which is famous for open source. What are they thinking?!?!?! |
