Author Topic: Strange battery observation on my E2  (Read 14361 times)

I have the Ultimate ROKR firmware installed on my E2, I also enabled Edge/engineering and Quad band. This mod seems to sap a lot of battery power.
Now the other day when my phones battery reached the "battery low" level with mandatory annoying warning alarm every 5 minutes, I swopped the battery with my daughters V360 battery as they both take a BT50. Once my daughter switched her V360 on with my supposed flat battery her phone registered 2 bars of battery power. It lasted another day.Does the E2 'read' what power is available incorrectly. How can this be fixed. Huh?

No, this is normal. E2 needs more power - it have big screen, 312Mhz intel xscale processor and it is loading tough operating system.

Usually on normal (lite) usage it should last for 3 days

Do Ilove3d's FWs have .no_notif option? This allows you to disable the empty battery sound... I tested it on Whitemoto's 45P and 48PII firmwares.

hehe

Please also make sure that your bluetooth is not enabled always - it lasts battery a lot... Disable all functions that you do not use

P.S. Did you overclocked the phone by any chance?

You can get a better duration if you disable EDGE, turn off Bluetooth and change the network search speed to slow. OC is good but only when needed... I only enable it before playing java (NEScube).

I only use bluetooth when necessary, so it is always off. Phone is not overclocked.I need EDGE as I use the phone with my laptop to connect to the net. I maintain weather and seismic activity monitering stations. Some are in remote places and run on solar power. I use the phone and my laptop to download /upload etc from the stations servers. GPRS is a bit slow and there is no 3G or HSDPA in a lot of the area's so I use EDGE. Wink

If your battery "dies" fast, try to turn off EDGE and quad band(return standard SEEM values)
If it does not help, try this:
when E2\E6 is starting to "cry" about "dead" battery turn off every thing, just let rokr die a "natural death" with out any stress(no cpu overclock,no music,no java, nothing at all)
try this for 1-4 times and E2\E6 PDS should "relearn"
but this is only on theory,I did not tested, coz I use my E2 extremly,so I use my 2 battaryes a day Smiley

hmm... Li-ion batteries don't have memory effect... check this out:

Most lithium-ion batteries use a fast charge to charge your device to 80% battery capacity, then switch to trickle charging. That’s about two hours of charge time to power a device to 80% capacity, then another two hours to fully charge it, if you are not using the iPod while charging. You can charge all lithium-ion batteries a large but finite number of times, as defined by charge cycle.

A charge cycle means using all of the battery’s power, but that doesn’t necessarily mean a single charge. For instance, you could listen to music for a few hours one day, using half its power, and then recharge it fully. If you did the same thing the next day, it would count as one charge cycle, not two, so you may take several days to complete a cycle. Each time you complete a charge cycle, it diminishes battery capacity slightly, but you can put cellphones, notebook, and other batteries through many charge cycles before they will only hold 80% of original battery capacity. As with other rechargeable batteries, you may eventually need to replace your battery  :'(

I need to go back to tri-band BP. My Stock Firmware came with 850, 1900 and 1800 bands. My operator doesn't offer EDGE so I don't need it... I just need to reset some seems to get this configuration back. Can somebody help me?

If you want to know some tips to extend your batery's life, you can read this

Guy's try to turn off QUAD BAND and EDGE,
I have EDGE only, but there is no problem with battery, maybe coz I used test command script to activate it(not manual seem editing)

Obviously (as XtorT69 said) it's not a battery, but phone problem. I guess the battery monitor (meter) is not counting correctly, which may be a software issue

XtorT69 - Can you flash another firmware (The One b2 for example) and test?
