The £3 phone

Don’t want to cough-up an arm and a leg for the iPhone 3G? Then get down to Carphone Warehouse, where you can pick up a Motorola handset for less than the price of a pint.

The W180 costs an unbelievable £2.89 ($4.30/€3.40), although you do have to simultaneously buy the pay-as-you-go phone with a £10 airtime voucher.

Don’t expect Wi-Fi access, a touchscreen or haptic feedback to come with the phone, because if you buy a phone costing the price of a loaf of bread then you really get only what you pay for.

For example, the W180 provides dual-band GSM access, a 128 x 128 screen and - we’re really struggling here - USB 2.0 connectivity.

The Motorola W180 is available online now.

That's not with contract. That's with voucher. Motorola W180 has price £3 + Voucher has price £10.

really? So you throw the voucher in the trash if you don't need it and then go on?

I doubt it... Maybe it is locked?

if i wasn't wrong, there's a phone that cost you less then 10 dollar, but you don't get any screen for it, it's an instant cellphone if i wasn't wrong. you could see it here http://www.economist.com/blogs/gulliver/2008/05/the_tendollar_mobile_phone.cfm

That's around 2 months ago. Technology will change rapidly. Example: Before no one believe Laptop can sale with price around USD 300 until USD 400 but now the fact has EEEPC with price around USD 300 until USD 400.

Yeah, but it's still quite shocking for me, since a 10dollar phone really are extraordinary, i mean, how could they put so many electric things, and still put the price cheaply?? EEEpc used a specially tailored processor, and i think, since it's a specially made, it shouldn't cost so much, and considering the PC parts individual prices, i think it's still can be done, but a phone??? well that is something
