i have the same problem, and i also using maxx4 right now. Based on my experience, all FW relatively have same battery life, at least no significant difference with same apmd. Maybe you should check what apmd you are using.
I always use 100/300/400 apmd on every FW I flashed. But i've always have to charge my phone everyday! I think I should get a new battery...

EDIT: After I ask my friend, he says that it's E2's weakness. The battery life is short. He also charged his phone everyday. Now he is modding E2 case to hold 1000mAh battery LOL

IMHO, MAXX 3 is the best for battery life.
Battery life will be shorten with these:
1. EDGE enable
2. Overclock CPU speed
3. Brightness
4. Talk time

IMO kindilinux has the best battery life, but remember that if you reduce your APMD, your band settings and all the stuff that might take some battery life off, that'll improve the duration Cheesy

Use the default APMD, don't overclock or even underclock it, it will reduce the battery life greatly, i've tried it, don't activate to many features at once, activating quadband isn't recommended, it will be better if you change the band setting to only activated 2 band, and don't forget to reduce your network searching speed to slow.

Open settings>>>>>network>>>>search setup>>>>band and choose your respective band and for the speed, just move down 2 steps, usually in a city, with lots of signal, you only need slow speed search
