I have a Chinese E398 that seems to be the MTV version. When I enter the Games/Java section and press the menu button, I only see "details, delete, permissions". Nothing about "switch storage device," so it would seem I have no way to install new Java applications. Is there another way to do this, or is there something I'm  missing?

Do I have to change my firmware? That would mean going out and buying a data cable.

You cannot install Java on memory card with stock e398(R372). You have to upgrade to ROKR(R373) for that. Please read the guides on how to do that. Always make backups..
